this is very floral and ’lagunitas’ smelling... caramel, orange, tea/ perfume-y floral hops, pineapple, faint pine and spicy alchol which clears up the sinus.
the palate is mildly sweet... reminds me of less sweet honey?... flavors of non-resinous pine, golden pineapple, leafy hops, spice and an intensely dry finish which lingers and pummels my tongue. alcohol goes unnoticed.
the medium body feels lighter from the alcohol and copious hop dryness... i’m gonna get hurt... 83/8/4/15/3.8 luminara (4), Corvallis, Oregon, USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2009 Dark amber color, decent head from the bottle. Halfway between an Old Ale and an IPA, with the good aspects of both. Lots of alcohol but well masked in the flavor and not overly sweet. Plenty of hops but well balanced by the malt. This is also just about the strongest beer that sells for under $2 a bottle in Oregon. Dangerous stuff, and highly recommended. jjuf1853 (471), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

Pours a clear reddish copper color with a dense, foamy beige head. Tons of citrus, pine hops in the aroma and flavor. Flavor includes grapefruit and pineapple notes as well. Excellent bitterness in the finish. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2009 Poured a warm honey color with about a half inch off-white head that quickly disappeared leaving no lace. Great aroma - this is what really sold me on this beer, biggest note in the scent is straight sour cherries - a great sweet subtle bitterness to play off the hops and the bite in the taste. Great crisp mouthfeel and enjoyable from start to finish. Very refreshing, a lot going on in the appeal of this beer. carruthm (1140), Seattle, Washington, USA

Huge toffee and alcohol taste. Viscous mouthfeel. Reminiscent of a Barley Wine. cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 21, 2009 Slight hop aroma with a clean olfactory. Light brown orange in color, filtered. Strong alky initial taste bud impact. Bitter pine sap and turpentine. Finish is certainly a shut down, bitter oily medicine. Too much for this lager lover. WEW! Typical Lag personality, over the top.
