Commercial Description:
Brewed for HOK Elanto pubs as beer of the month for October 2008. HOK Elanto say:
Laitilan Kievari Schwarz on 4,5-prosenttinen, lähes läpinäkymätön, hienostuneen paahteinen ja täyteläinen pohjahiivaolut. Laitilan panimoammattilaiset ovat valmistaneet mustalle oluelle perinteisen, paljon käymättömiä sokereita sisältävän pohjan. Oluen makeutta tasapainottaa tummien maltaiden suklainen karvaus ja hienonhieno, pieteetillä viritetty humalointi.

50cl bottle, K-market, Vantaa. Pours almost black color, with no head. Metal is the first thing that sticks in my nose. Flavor is very hard to find, mostly metal, then as the beer get a little warmer I find roasted malt, but otherwise the palate is very light, watery. Must have been something wrong with the bottle, although BB is 4/2010, so it is not an old bottle either. Must re-rate.

0,5l bottle. Dark brown, almost red. Nose is malty and bready. Flavor has a weak hint of roasted malts, but mainly a very bread-like body. Easy and harmless drinking, nothing spectacular.

Bottled. Dark brown and deeply reddish beer. Thin white head. The aroma has bready and slightly roasted maltiness, rye, a hint of dates and chocolate in the finish. Some herbal hops in the aroma too. Malty flavor starts sweetish bready and buttery finishing chocolatey and slighly bitter. The palate is medium bodied and quite thick for such a mild beer. Overall it´s nice beer unless you drink it ice cold.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Dark brown, brief head. Sweetish with clean, chewy mouthfeel. Roasty with bready malt and black currant. Toasty and grainy with salty bitterish finish.

Aroma of fudge, the finnish omar candy like, with some roasted malt. Bready sweet caramelly taste. Easy drinking, might not be a summer refreshment thing but then again summer is short and winter is long. Beer candy.
