Commercial Description:
Brewed for HOK Elanto pubs as beer of the month for October 2008. HOK Elanto say:
Laitilan Kievari Schwarz on 4,5-prosenttinen, lähes läpinäkymätön, hienostuneen paahteinen ja täyteläinen pohjahiivaolut. Laitilan panimoammattilaiset ovat valmistaneet mustalle oluelle perinteisen, paljon käymättömiä sokereita sisältävän pohjan. Oluen makeutta tasapainottaa tummien maltaiden suklainen karvaus ja hienonhieno, pieteetillä viritetty humalointi.

500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown colour, medium-sized light brown head. Sweet aroma of roasted malts and syrup. Medium to light-bodied, smoothly carbonated. Roasted malty flavour with some bread and caramel. Dry, roasted aftertaste. Easy to drink but not very interesting.

courtesy of oh6gdx - clear and bright dark brown colour with a rubish hue; persistent beige foam; pretty aroma of roasted malts, ashes and with buttery tones underneath; moderate malt body, regular and solid carbonation, some sweetness and a long toasted malty finish where notes of caramel and ashes show up - very pleasant

Bottle from Tbone, thanks! dark brown color. Milk and roast in the aroma. Sweetish flavor with rye, apple syrup, licorice and laurel. Slightly tarry. These traditional Finnish beers are way off the beaten track. Interesting experience.

Very dark, brown-red beer with light beige head. Aroma is quite sweet and pleasant: toffee, roasted malts, some sourness and even red berries. Flavour is simple and complexicity of aroma is gone and roasted malts dominates the simple flavour. Too easy and light to drink but carbonation is nice and low. Aroma is promising and gives you to hope of long partnership but it is quicly noticed that this is only one night partner.

It is dark, red-brown with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of syrup and roasted malt. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of dark syrup, rye bread and roasted malt. It is charming and easy to drink.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep amber. Mild butterish and slight roasted aroma. Malty, roasted and light spiced flavoured with a distinct breadish note. Light butterish, roasted and mild acidic into a dry finish.
