Commercial Description:
Brewed for HOK Elanto pubs as beer of the month for October 2008. HOK Elanto say:
Laitilan Kievari Schwarz on 4,5-prosenttinen, lähes läpinäkymätön, hienostuneen paahteinen ja täyteläinen pohjahiivaolut. Laitilan panimoammattilaiset ovat valmistaneet mustalle oluelle perinteisen, paljon käymättömiä sokereita sisältävän pohjan. Oluen makeutta tasapainottaa tummien maltaiden suklainen karvaus ja hienonhieno, pieteetillä viritetty humalointi.

Bottle 0,5 l. Reddish black, light beige and very lacy head. Nose is roasted malts, some diacetyl butter and veggies. Flavor is mainly dry, smooth, non bitter roast with butter and some hops to back it up. Sort of like a czech schwarz and unlike solid germans. Good nonetheless and flavorful for 4,5 %.

Bottle. Dark ruby, foamy coarse head. Mildly roasted, cocoa aroma, a tad metallic. Clean, fruity and roasted flavor, coffee and little cocoa in the finish. Quite light, strongly carbonated palate. Alright, dry and simple schwarz.

Almost black with a red tone. Beige medium sized head with soapy rainbow reflecting bubbles (which is negative). lots of chocolate and liquorice, a little coffee and roasted malts, smoke, tarlots of sugar and syrup. Medium bodied. Finish is fresh and watery, but later dry.

Bottle. Pours a very deep, dark reddish brown, topped off with a creamy, beige head. Roasted malt and rye bread dominates aroma. Tobacco, worty, sweetish. Something bit funny there -- lactic perhaps? Others here seem to agree. Huh. Aanyway, roasted malts very prominent in flavor as expected. Rye bread. Same, slightly strange, lactic-like sweetness as in aroma. Some hop bitter in finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, lowish carbonation. Summa summarum, not particularly exciting, but a good enough schwartz, except for the lactic strangeness.
