Commercial Description:
Brewed for HOK Elanto pubs as beer of the month for October 2008. HOK Elanto say:
Laitilan Kievari Schwarz on 4,5-prosenttinen, lähes läpinäkymätön, hienostuneen paahteinen ja täyteläinen pohjahiivaolut. Laitilan panimoammattilaiset ovat valmistaneet mustalle oluelle perinteisen, paljon käymättömiä sokereita sisältävän pohjan. Oluen makeutta tasapainottaa tummien maltaiden suklainen karvaus ja hienonhieno, pieteetillä viritetty humalointi.

(Bottled, BB 05/2009). Deep ruby color, small tan head. Aroma has some toffee, diacetyl, light roasted malts and weak sour element. Medium-bodied with sparkling carbonation especially in the finish. Some cocoa, toffee and dark fruits in the flavor. Finish is less sweeter with dark malty flavors. Simple but quite tasty for being 4,5 % dark Finnish lager beer. In this beer there is something similar to what Mallaskosken Tumma Kuohu III used to be before they ruined the flavor.

courtesy of oh6gdx - clear and bright dark brown colour with a rubish hue; persistent beige foam; pretty aroma of roasted malts, ashes and with buttery tones underneath; moderate malt body, regular and solid carbonation, some sweetness and a long toasted malty finish where notes of caramel and ashes show up - very pleasant

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of hanniku. Clear reddish brown with a small, beige head. A whiff of butter in the aroma combined with roasted malts. Medium body, plenty of roasted malt, a little vanilla. No real burned feeling. Finishes dry. Quite decent. 131108

Bottled. Dark brown and deeply reddish beer. Thin white head. The aroma has bready and slightly roasted maltiness, rye, a hint of dates and chocolate in the finish. Some herbal hops in the aroma too. Malty flavor starts sweetish bready and buttery finishing chocolatey and slighly bitter. The palate is medium bodied and quite thick for such a mild beer. Overall it´s nice beer unless you drink it ice cold.

500 ml bottle. Deep brown color, tightly packed tan head. Slightly metallic aroma with dark malts. Smooth malty flavor with chocolate notes. Light body, medium carbonation. Not bad.

Aroma of fudge, the finnish omar candy like, with some roasted malt. Bready sweet caramelly taste. Easy drinking, might not be a summer refreshment thing but then again summer is short and winter is long. Beer candy.
