Laitilan Tumma Kukko

Bottled. Dark copper to rust, small and fading light beige head. Nose has nuttiness, little molasses, hint of metal and hops. Flavor is dark syrup, quite strong nuts, little herbal hops in the dryish finish, overall pretty similar to the aroma. Slightly hollow palate, carbonation is smooth enough. Very mild, but definitely better than I remembered. Misses most of the nasty metal of the canned version.

50cl can. Pours copper/red color, thin head. Rosted malt in aroma, malty and hoppy flavour, metal in aftertaste. Slightly bitter finish.

500 ml can. Finland. Clear reddish brown colour with small tan head. Caramel, some chocolate and malt in aroma. Caramel, roasted malt, some hoppy bitterness and metallic notes in flavour.

The color is very beautiful, almost shiny red-brown and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel and dusty grain. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of malt, caramel, light citrus and the finish is slightly dry. It’s a bit on the thin side, but otherwise OK.

Canned. Amber color, offwhite head. Metal and grass aroma. Chocolate flavor, roasted, cocoa, some hops.

500ml can. Amber color, white head, diminishes fast. Sweet malts aroma, fruity hints, raisins. Malts flavor, bitter end with metal.

Copperbrown beer with medium beige head. Malts, grass, some rosted malts and metal is found in the aroma. Flavour is quite mild and normally malty with some roasted malts and hint of bitterness. Light to drink and quite lot of carbonation. Tumma Kukko doesn’t convince me: there are nothing more than normal lager only colour.
