Commercial Description:
Intended to be a highly hopped, full-flavored beer. Based on the "American Pale Ale" style, but with more malt flavor. Using American grown hops and barley malted right here in Wisconsin, this is a beer that will make even the most discerning tongue tingle. Try just one and we think you'll agree that 'Once you've had hops, you'll never stop'.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with The_Enemy (thanks!). Opened to a loud pssst. No surprise that it poured all head (off white). It finally settled down into a deep and crystal clear orange color. The bottom of the bottle became very cloudy with lots of floaters. Aromas of flowers, caramel, and doughy. Tastes of cookie dough, citrus, flowers and light caramel. I expected the body to be over carbonated with the way it opened and poured, but it wasn’t.

Bottle thanks to Brigadier sampled on 2/13/07: Pours a transparent golden bronze with a well-lacing white head. Big, fresh citrusy hoppy aroma has a slightly sweet caramel maltiness. Body starts with a mild, earthy malty sweetness with good, fresh bittersweet hoppy character. Nicely-balanced and very drinkable.

Amber color with a small but dense off white head. "Raw" earthy hops aroma, mostly piney. Starts with the piney hops and slowly shifts to a more earthy malt flavor. Perhaps a touch "rough", but quite drinkable with no real faults.

12 oz bottle (Riley’s Wines of the World, Madison WI October 2006) sampled a bit above fridge temperature from a Unibroue glass. Deep, clear copper in color with light bubble action in the glass, moderate smooth near-white head recedes slowly....sweet caramel malt, strange touch of maple, and light citrus notes in the subtle nose....body is also strangely subdued (perhaps this bottle is slightly old?), more malt than hop presence, moderately sweet and lightly bitter-hoppy with a slightly stronger dry, bitter finish....this is quite drinkable but on the whole I found it strangely dull, a disappointment from this fine brewery.

Thanks to Mark for the bottle. The body is medium amber with a long lasting thin white head. Teh aroma is fresh bread with some pancakes and a little bit of grapefruit. This smells liek it is on the more malty end of the spectrum. The taste has some medium grapefruit with roasted peanuts. There is also some toasted bread crust in the finish. Good stuff, a great session style bee.r

Stopped at the Firm Worm store in Arena, WI. The cashier told me that Tom Porter (brewery owner) just stopped by and put more Arena Premium in the cooler. Any fresher would have been a visit at the brewery. From 12 oz bottle, it pours a light caramel with some cloudy when viewed to light. Nose picks up a bitter flower with a hint of apricot. Taste with some citrus and light malt. Dry aftertaste of apricot. Very Nice!
