Malty body with definite spiciness and some yeast bite. Reminded me of a hefe for some some reason... iowaherkeye (1873), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Hooray, my 12th rated Lake Louie brew! 12oz bottle, no date. Hazy orange with a 1/2 finger creamy off-white head, fair retention. Aroma is nicely yeasty and fruity, and consists of bananas, yeast, bread crusts, candi sugar, spicy alcohol, and some light herbal hops. I knew this would be sweet, but I also expected something to cut the sweetness, rather than just dry out in the finish with some bitterness (3-4 out of 10) and no flavor hops. Otherwise, pretty much the same as the aroma. As I said, the finish is dry but slightly bready, and the alcohol is masked well--however high it is. Light carbonation with a creamy medium full body. Pretty darn good, but just a tad sweet. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

A very full aroma of oranges, yeast, spiciness and just enough coriander to let you know it’s probably there. And indeed, it is. Not massively, but more than a hint. Also bready and yeasty. Very, very good. JK (2964), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Another from Skyview. This is really good and it reminds me of Chouffe Houblon, with similar flavors, even though they are not as intense in this beer. Lots of hops in the aroma and the flavor. The flavor also has considerable sugar and light spice including citrus, with the result being something like sweet hop juice with Belgian yeast, and the combination works quite well. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Pours a nice almost pinkish golden amber color. Odd funky sweet nose with a good dose of wheaty spiciness. Nice full balanced creamy mouthfeel with a good dose of honey and yeasty spiciness. Skyview (4076), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Bob McFarland Liquors in McFarland, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear golden amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind some bubbles and a thin ring. Aroma of Belgian yeast, caramel malt, roasted nuts and some spicey herbal hops. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation and a very tart caramel flavor with some spicey apples and pears. Plus, plenty of alcohol warmth. Finish is slightly tart, fruity, orange peel and plenty of bitterness and alcohol burn. I’m guessing this is packed with at least 9% alcohol. chimpscampee (566), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Yeast, citrus, and a faint nuttiness standout. More dry hoppiness than any trippel or dubbel I’ve tried and more of the brown sour characteristics of butterscotch, brown sugar, carmel. Not much of the dark fruits and acidic fruit peel taste. Apple or pear. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

I found this on a recent beer run and picked up a bottle out of curiousity. I’m glad too. At $13.49 a six pack it is pretty pricy. I can understand why - if you’ve ever been to Arena Lake Louie is not exactly a major producer of beer. However it is enough of a deterrent that I won’t be picking it up. It is solid but hardly earth shaking. For the same price I can pick up a six pack of Expedition.
Aroma / Appearance - The bleached white head was thin and feeble. A coppery translucent body was lively with carbonation. Apple sauce, pears and peach jolly ranchers form a simple nose. If you are looking for complexity check elsewhere.
Flavor / Palate - Creamy canned peaches fill the mouth with sweet and fruity flavors. Cherry cordial comes next before a dry candy like finish. It’s not your usual Belgian. I found it a little underwhelming but still decent. This is just above average in my opinion.
