Pours amber, beige head.
Aroma, caramel, suagry.
Taste, malty, chocolat / caramel notes.
Found the beer to be quite enjoyable. ChainGangGuy (1602), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, reddish body with a small, wispy, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Toasty caramel malts, but I’m left wanting an integral peat character. What gives? I never pick up much in the way of peat, be it the aroma or flavor.
Taste: Toasty caramel maltiness with a middling sweetness. Sip of frothed fruit juices accompanied by a slight, slightly displeasing tartness. Some hop bitterness can’t manage to shake the tartness from the taste. Picks up an odd astringency near the end. Finishes dry. Bleh.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A pretty poor offering. PASS. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 13, 2008 Date: 06/21/2008
Mode: Bottle
Source: Tasting, Cellar Party
Appearance: cloudy dark amber, wispy beige head, streaks of lace,
Aroma: dry dark charamel malt aroma kept dry with lots of earthy character, peppery alcohol,
Flavor: dry caramel malt flavor, dry earthy and astrengent bitterness, light tartness grows to be the dominant character, long bitter finish,
Overall: not a good day for Louie

I would like to rerate this beer.
JMFG (1173), Florida, USA Jul 9, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Slightly cloudy ruby-copper color, thin layer of soapy white head. Malty sweetness on the aroma, along with some mild English hops, vaguely grassy. Rich malts apparent on the taste wit an earthy finish. Did not taste like 9%. Lacks the depth of the better Scotch ales. merlin48 (354), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle pours a clear, garnet edged chestnut body with a small beige head that quickly falls into a cap and film. Aroma of Heather honey, buttery toffee, and very old Scotch. Solid medium body has a subdued carbonation that is smooth and warming. Taste has a dominant maltiness of toffee and caramel, accented by some grassy hops and a faint note of char. Warming alcohol is felt. Nicely done.
