Pours a dark brown body under a minimal fizzy light brown head that faded quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows a strong lactose note over the chocolate and roasted malts. A light sour note also. The flavor is quite lactic with a slightly sour taste showing throughout. Very roasty with a light bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is watery in texture with moderate fizzy prickly carbonation. A tangy lingering lactose on the finish. Overall, I think this was a little too heavy handed with the lactose. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2007 Dark brownish black color. Smell of malt, chocolate, hops, roasted coffee(light side), and milk duds candy. Taste of roasted malt, hops, hint of caramel, some chocolate(gets better when it warms), coffee and an earthy bitterness. Slight sourness also but not that bad. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

The initial tan crown rapidly disappears leaving close to nothing behind. The aroma is coffee with some roasted malt. The flavor is mildly sweet and initially has that telltale fruity/sour lactose quality. That passes fairly quickly and then there is a creamy chocolate flavor. From there it moves into the dry, very roasty/near burnt finish that is predominately coffee-flavored. The finish really makes this beer good. Like many other milk stouts, this one has a medium body and seems a bit thin. I would have liked just a bit more body and/or a creamier texture. Regardless, it goes down smooth and is easy to drink. I would put this on-par with The Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout, maybe even a little higher. The Lake Louie Milk Stout is really growing on me with each passing drink...

Head was thick and tan with decent retention. Aroma was of chocolate and vanilla. Sweet on the tongue with a hint of roastiness. Together they create an almost rootbeerish note. Very thin mouth feel. Eh. Go for Left Hand or Duck Rabbit Milk Stouts. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2007 12 oz bottle from KingpinIPA. Pours dark black, but somewhat watery. Aroma is faint coffee and malts. Flavor is akin to English Stouts, most notably Guinness, if not maybe a bit more robust. Bitter, almost sour on the finish. Some good coffee and chocolate flavors are constant, but overall this beer just doesn’t really get me excited. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA
