Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and wood as well as lighter notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt and lighter notes of soy sauce and wood. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

From bottle, blind #20. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Dry wooden hoppy aroma, light roasted too. Liqourice, roasted malt and subdued sweetness to a distinct crisp hoppy base flavour. Bitter and roasted malt flavoured finish with a lasting liqourice impression. Nice one.

Name: Mr. Mephisto’s Imperial Stout

black with ruby edges, thin fine brown head that swirles easily and produces a bit of wet lace, sweet malt aroma with notes of vanilla and roasted, very creamy velvet body, black roasted flavor, low bitterness, no sign of alcohol, the low aroma and soft flavor combine with the smooth body to create a great session imperial stout which at 12% will kick your ass

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Very dark, almost black color; medium head. There is some dusty aroma of roasted malts, barley coffee, light acidity. Good mouthfeel, quite smooth, but also too acidic, with quite strong roasted malt flavor, but a bit too dry and sour at the end; strong chocolate flavor too; the final is a bit creamy, which elevates a bit the fortune of this beer.

12oz bottle acquired in trade. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized tan head. My 1st impression was that the aroma was off. I just couldn’t put my finger on it. This off aroma died down somewhat as the beer aired out. Aromas of sour cherries, roast, chocolate, caramel, and woody. Tastes of roast, chocolate, coffee, licorice and some tobacco. I thought this was thin for an imperial stout. Just noticed that this was 12%, I never would have guessed that!

(Bottle) Pours an opaque black body with a thick beige head. Aroma of roasted and sweet malts, lactose, some vinous, and light smoke. Flavor of lactic sourness, light plastic, hint of chocolate, and roasted malt.
