noncaloric (117), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 28, 2008 Summary: A very drinkable saison, somewhat over-spiced. Aroma: Coriander and yeasty funk in about equal measure. Appearance: Cloudy pale blonde. Bubbles rise while sediment settles, nice visual effect. A significant white head leaves abundant lacing. Flavor: Nice yeasty funk lasts through the entire sip. Heavily spiced, coriander and cloves. Fruit juice elements, blueberry, lemon zest, also present. Palate: Generally juicy, a bit thin in the body. Eminently drinkable. Walt (2288), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2008 Pour is light golden and is quite hazy with a dense tight bubbled off white head...smell is zesty and citric with strong notes of coriander and black pepper...interesting nose...taste is insanely fruity at first with lots of pears and oranges...then orange zest bitterness and coriander take over...overly spiced...drinkable, but too much... kmeves (1013), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Sep 7, 2008 Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a decent frothy white head. Aroma is lightly sweet fruit but really overpowered by the coriander. Flavor is the same, only the spices come on strong late. Light bodied, creamy texture. Too bad, they would have nailed this one were it not for the over spicing. esjaygee (830), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 1, 2008 Cloudy pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of spice, fruit, coriander and orange. Taste of spice, fruit peel , sweet malt and fruit. Spicy finish that is somewhat dry. I’m no saison expert but this reminded me more of a witbier than the other saisons I’ve had.
Beerlando (1356), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 27, 2008 Pours a hazy golden-yellow color with a spongy, well retained, snow white head. Soapy lace slides about the glass, with some nice, thick flares eventually setting in place. The aroma shows a delicate, grainy malt background with notes of coriander, juniper berries, citrus blossoms, and hints of peppery spice. There is a distinct farmhouse funk there as well. Flavors again show a nice balance between soft, dry grains and bright, floral and citrusy spicing. Grains of Paradise really emerge as well. The finish is tart and dry, spices fading into the yeasty, farmhouse funk. Light on palate but well carbonated, the drinkability really lends itself to summertime weather. Overall, this is a pretty nice little saison/witbier hybrid. I dig it.
