Commercial Description:
This is a smooth, full-bodied beer. A rich "nuts & berries" flavor followed by a coffee-like finish. Based on the traditional English Porter beers ofthe late 1800's. Originally created for Irish immigrants working the shipping docks in England. They were a hard working lot who wanted a "stout" style brew with more alcohol content to drink during their all too short lunch breaks.

Courtesy of The_Enemy <P> Aroma is rich with chocolate, coffee, nuts, baked treats, some mild fruitiness and a touch of vanilla. A black body holds a quickly diminishing tan head. Fore is milk chocolate, low bitterness coffee, sweet cream some more of the nutty notes and some peanut skin flavor. Finish is more nutty/chocolate than the early flavors and leaves a very tasty aftertaste.

12oz bottle via trade with Duane - thanks Duane! - Pours very dark brown with a tall creamy beige head that stays well and laces down the sides of the english pint glass. Aroma is nice notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel, and a touch of coffee. Flavor is very robust, nuts, caramel, chocolate and much more present coffee. The finish is somewhat bitter with stronger notes of coffee. Palate is medium bodied and just right for a porter.. Creamy mouthfeel fair carbonation. A very smooth drinker.. I liked it..

Bottle: Courtesy of The_Enemy via a bonus box of beer. Aroma is very nutty with some roasted coffee, piney hops, and a hint of fruit. Along with these aromas, there is something that is a little off. Pours a dark brown with no transparency and a large tan head with decent retention. Very nutty up front that fades slightly in the finish to a nice roasted coffee finish that leaves a light aftertaste. Chocolate and caramel make a light appearance in the middle.

From the bottle. Great head, very tight, sand color. Lace all the way up the pint glass. Color is opaque. Aroma is minimal, with very slight chocolate and coffee. The flavors however are more present. You can’t miss the nut, chocolate and coffe. Can’t find the berries as Mr. Porter suggests. Still, one of the better porters out there.

High fine head with neat fallout action. Very definite lacing. Rated from the bottle. Sweet subtle aroma with hint of caramel. Dark, opaque color, but with a lighter body than you may expect. Flavor builds to a strong finish.

Bottle. Strong dark chocolate and coffee flavor but not too harsh. Pours dark with a beautiful creamy tan head. Soft cabonation gives a creamy, full mouthfeel. This one is great for dessert.
