Smokey roasted malt taste with coffee that leads to a bitter aftertaste. A little thin. brewblackhole (1383), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Slight stale wood aftertaste. Not that bad though Silphium (2138), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Dark brown body with reddish highlights, medium tight tan head. Nose of dry, roasted malts and chocolate. Dry, woody roast dominated the body, in addition to dark chocolate and hints of coffee. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but tasty. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Definately a nutty/fruity porter, with the smooth full-bodied flavor of the traditional English Porter. A good beer to fuel good times. cblado (150), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Earthy, nutty aroma, not unpleasant. Had a slight tan head. Medium-to-thin mouthfeel. Robust malted flavor, with a very bitter nutty aftertaste. A good porter, one of the earthier ones I’ve had. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2007 11/30/2007: Lake Louie Tommy’s Porter has a very dark brown color (looks like cold dark coffee). It is nearly opaque in the glass and has a decent tan head. Coffee and chocolate are quite heavy in the roasty aroma along with some nice nutty notes. The flavor is also roasty and nutty with lots of dark chocolate and cold expresso. The body is medium, but a thin and somewhat watery. However, the carbonation is fairly soft, resulting in a smooth texture. Overall this is a nicely balanced and very robust porter, but the body really hurts this beer overall.

Fairly bitter and a bit unbalanced. Easy drinking in cold Wisconsin. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 10, 2007 12 oz bottle, via mreusch. Pours a dark brown body under a small fizzy beige head that faded rather quickly. The nose is chocolaty, but also quite husky and grainy. There’s almost a light root beer note. The flavor is very thin, just some light burnt malt with a slightly astringent nature. Some light licorice, some huskyness, and maybe even a touch of diacetyl on the finish. The mouthfeel is rather thin and watery with fizzy prickly carbonation. Overall, this was quite a letdown. Thin and fizzy with some definate off flavors going on here. Not an impressive effort. Very surprised at this beer’s score.
