Poured a ruby hued coffee blackish brown with a foamy, frothy, rocky tan head that slowly settled into a thin sudsy lacing, minimal amount of laced sticking.
Aromas of salty nuts, rye-like grain, berry fruitiness, and a light coffee and cocoa.
Good, even carbonation and a softly crisp, slick, smooth light bodied mouthfeel, a bit too light for me.
Tastes of toasted, salty nuts and a berry fruitiness, grainy with a soft coffee, a light hop bitterness towards the end and a fruity, powdery cocoa and coffee finish.
An O.K. porter, smooth drinkability, but for me personally, not tasty enough to want more than a couple.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Bottle. Clear dark body. Rum, cherry, and candied chocolate in the aroma. The flavor dries out a bit with walnut and cranberry juice over dry chocolate. Tangy, roasty finish with a nice mouthfeel. A good porter. 1FastSTi (2588), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Thanks Dave. The beer pours to a really dark brown body with a light khaki head. The aroma is heavily coffee with some light sweet milk chocolate. The flavor is deeply roasty with some light twigs and smooth malts/hops. Quite balanced. The palate is medium bodied with a nice texture and dry finish. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 8, 2006 Brown body with reddish tint. Aroma is chocolate, roast and molases. The flavor is on the light side, plenty of roast, brown sugar and chocolate. Medium/light body with a soft and smooth texture, but a touch thin at the finish. Sammy (4062), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Thanks JPM30. Looks like a porter,black colour light head but faint odour.Taste porter-like, faintly. OK brew but weak in its style. A little roast, a bit creamy grain. More of a nutty grainy brown then a robust porter.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 9, 2006 I am very pleased to see that others thought, as I did, that this was a very solid porter. I didn’t expect much after having a different Lake Louie beer. It poured with a moderate cream lace after a vigorous pour, and the head stayed a long time on its dark brown (opaque except on the very edges, so 100% in my book) body. The coffee was distinct in the nose, amid a robust vanilla and roasted nut sensibility, and a hint of celery seed (something I often find in a good porter). Dry and roasty, peanuts, moderate chocolate. The body was soft, moderately fluffy, adequately supported with interesting-enough carbonation. No off flavors, questionmarks, or anything. Then I ate a bit of beef summer sausage and wham! it opened up in beautiful ways. The beer and sausage went together wonderfully. Extremely drinkable...extremely. I wouldn’t say it’s the "biggest" or "most complex" porter I’ve ever had, but it’s very well done indeed.
