Commercial Description:
Brewed in the classic Scotch Ale style dating back to the 1700's, with a deep reddish brown color. Full of body, sweetness and flavor. Higher in alcohol content but possessing a smooth and lightly hopped finish. Best served at 45 degrees F in a room temperature pint glass. For the 'Big Beer' drinkers among us.

Caramel, molasses, fruity-yeast, malty aromas. Nice and aromatic. Dark brown with ruby red light showing through and a frothy head that faded quickly. Sweet and malty with caramel, some peaty flavors but not in a smoky way.. very subtle. It’s sweet, but strangely drying in the back of the mouth with a bit of metallic flavors that almost seem bitter. It’s nice.

Pours a nice frothy head with really good lacing and a clear dark brown color. It falls into a thin layer that sticks around. Smooth brown flavors and a bite of some sort. This is a great beer, went well with turkey and stuffing.

Bottle from buckybeer. Deep amber color with nice sized off white head. Malty nutty aroma a flavor. Light fruity notes with some fizziness. Surprising nutty aroma and flavor threw me off.

Bottle: Poured a deep mahogany color ale with a medium head with some retention and average lacing characteristics. Aroma of sweet malt is dominating with some barley wine like feel. Taste is dominated by some very sweet malt with no peat like malt. I noticed a metallic aftertaste which I didn’t like very much. I thought this was totally off-style and I didn’t appreciated very much overall- can’t figure out what all the hype is about on this one.

Pours a dark brown/copper with a small head. Aroma is candied malts (butterscotch), fermented fruits and woody notes. Flavor is malts, light smoke, bitter fruits. The finish is also bitter and dry. Very nice overall.

Bottle. I really like the nose! Most unique. Rich sweetness. Smells like an alcoholic Kit-Kat. Pours a deep amber with a thin off white head. Very interesting flavor profile: toasted malt, chocolate, molasses. Sweet and dry with minimal hops and a hint of wet wood. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Pours a beautiful deep brown with deep burgundy and mahogany highlights. Good head and lacing, caramel nose. The flavor is nicely assertive, malty and roasty (even a little smoky) and caramel. A little nuttiness and maybe even butterscotch lurking in the background. Nice hoppy finish for a Scotch ale, even a bit of a sour aftertaste (in a good way). This used to be one of my favorite styles, but I’d lost interest the last few years. Lake Louie Warped Speed has brought it back. Recommended.
