Commercial Description:
Brewed in the classic Scotch Ale style dating back to the 1700's, with a deep reddish brown color. Full of body, sweetness and flavor. Higher in alcohol content but possessing a smooth and lightly hopped finish. Best served at 45 degrees F in a room temperature pint glass. For the 'Big Beer' drinkers among us.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a huge brown beer - the head stemming from an over carbonated beer. The aroma has notes of an infection lending it acidic notes of lemon. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, as well as lighter notes of cinnamon and chocolate, leading to a dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Pours a very cloudy reddish brown with a tall and frothy beige head leaving some laces. Aroma of caramel and fruit - light lingering tartness. Medium-bodied with sweetish burned caramel, lightly tart fruit and a whiff of ashes. Fairly dry finish. I suspect a light infection here, but it’s not spoiling the beer completely. 180808

12 fl oz bottle. Pours unclear and deep brown with a slowly collapsing tan head. Lacto/milky and mild roasted malt to chocolate malty aroma. Mild lacto and chocolate malty flavour, goes nicely together. Light liqourice. Smooth acidic and malty finish with a liqourice lingering note. Nice one although I don’t think it was intended this way.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a medium brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of peat, nuts, caramel, and a little buttery. Tastes of nuts, roast, caramel, and light peat. I didn’t get the butter in the flavor like I did in the aroma. Thinner body.

Bottle... TITW Part Deux... Light brown ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is sweet and nutty with nice notes of chocolate and vanilla. Just a hint of wood. A little too bitter for a Scottish ale, but still solid and malty-sweet. Medium-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes bittersweet with a crisp, hop bite. Thanks go out to artusory for sharing the bottle with us!

Bottle thanks to Brigadier sampled on 2/13/07: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and butterscotch with some toasted malty notes. Body starts with a sweet caramel maltiness with a lot of slick diacetyl butterscotch flavor toward a thin finish.
