DYCSoccer17 (1987), Davis, California, USA Jul 23, 2004 Sampled from a growler. Yeasts, bronw sugar, hints of banana and sour notes in the nose. Not bad. Gorgeous hazy garnet red mahogany color with an off-white head. It is difficult to determine head retention seeing it’ss from a growler. Start is somewhat sweet turning quite bitter and very hoppy and dry. Lots of smoked dryness to finish. Rather thin. Not enough complexity and too dry for my liking. ChazyRPh (569), Chazy, New York, USA Aug 21, 2003 Pours garnet red with a full golden head out of the growler. I think this may have been an experimental beer from this pub & brewery. I can't say that I've tasted a dubbel before, so I have nothing to compare to. This is a very acidic beer, and I believe it to be complex. I do taste a strong hops presence, with fermented fruit. The acidic taste stays on my tongue long after the beer goes in my belly. A strong beer, kind of grows on me a little. Not my favorite.
