drywall_man (196), Lake in the Hills, Illinois, USA Aug 26, 2008 This one had a light to medium amber with a dissipated head. It had a light frutiy approach with citrusy hops and went down well at the Chocolate Moose restaraunt in Ely, Mn. pepperford (83), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA Jul 6, 2008 my first kolsch, so it’s hard to compare. light gold in color. a light, almost pilsner in flavor with an additional bit of hop bitterness. an allright summer brew. theisti (1034), Leawood, Kansas, USA Mar 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle shared with my sister. Pour is golden straw, initially a bit hazy, with a nice white head. Aroma of some bright fruits, apple, orange, etc. Not strong, but certainly a present sweetness. Additionally, there is some of the earthy / spice hop aroma that is familiar to Kölsch. Taste was very nice. Really clean taste, the sweetness and the earthy spice of the hops played nicely together and featured very refreshing and crisp finish. The body was very light, though I found this worked great with the delicate and subtle flavors. Nicely done! ebrowner88 (113), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Feb 23, 2008 Had this on tap a the Fitgers Brewhouse right next to the brewery. Coincidentally, soon after i returned from a trip to Germany where I had sampled more then a few Kolsch. I thought this was a great effort at the style. It would have been at home in any brau haus in Cologne. Bottled, especially if not fresh, can be a different experience. GaltScat (196), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 3, 2008 Not too bad for a Koslch. Slightly hazy golden yellow body, smallish white head. Aroma is strangely funky, fruity and cereal. With some tart lemony notes. Intriguingly different. Tart bite to the flavor that is at first oddly refreshing and strangely sour at the same time palate is on the light side. Very different. Two more educated palates vote soundly that it is likely infected and the sourness is not on purpose. A quick survey of the ratings suggests this might be a problem that has been encountered occasionally.
