Aroma is a pleasant mix of roasted grains and cereal, with some nutty & light fruit scents detectable. Flavor is rich and grainy, like a really good and hearty breakfast cereal. Nice nutty flavors as well, with a nice hop helping that sets it apart from most in the style. Smooth and really tasty. Really good Oktoberfest. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 30, 2007 Bottle (12oz). Clar deep amber with a decent tan creamy/rocky lasting head. Smells like fresh rye bread and roasted nuts over a solid sweet cereal malt body. The taste has both a fresh rye grain and iron/peat tang, with some hrbal hops emerging as it warms - very chewy and solid, soft astringency and mineral character in the finish, nicely carbonated - not too "big" but very roasty and refreshing. Pints of this would be welcomed. hopdog (5617), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2007 Slightly lightened amber body, clear, with a frothy light tan head. Slightly grainy malt aroma. Slight german hops.
First taste is a rindy german hop concoction with a sweet marzen malt. A little hint of butter with the rindy malt. Like a lot of Lakefront stuff, a bit too fizzy. Pretty good overall though. I’ve heard this is the Riverwest Stein... I think its close, but not the same; especially with the hop thing going on. twindadplus2 (417), Wisconsin, USA

Malty caramel and brown sugar aroma with a nice hop character. Full malty flavor with a nicely balanced herbal, piney bitterness. Medium bodied and nicely carbonated with a long hop finish. Nice to see a winner like this from Lakefront, now if they’ll just start selling it in six packs.. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Pours a transparent copper amber with a wispy-lacing, frothy off-white head. Aroma of sweet earthy, toasty caramel and Munich malt and a nice noble hop character. Body starts fairly full and sweet with good authenticity and balance. Quite drinkable and flavorful. This might be one of the best American-made examples of the style that I’ve had.
