Says 10 year anniversary, which I guess means its a 1997 bottle. Poured into a St. Bernardus glass. Pours with very little carbonation and just a bit of lacing that quickly disappeared. There are definitely big chunks of stuff in it, not your regular sediment. Color is orangish copper. Aroma is very present, but weak for a barleywine this strong. Got that barleywine aroma of plums and raisons, but too muted. Taste is the most watered down barleywine I have ever experienced. Thin mouthfeel, no aftertaste. Its a weak ass barleyine. Again, this beer goes to prove my theory Germans love Dav..uh...I mean... Organic beers usually suck. But it does add to my barleywine collection, thanks again Dave. | 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Jul 26, 2006 Light amber color with CHUNKS floating around. The CHUNKS look like choped walnuts. I am only taking 3 Sips of this and I am dumping it out. Sorry, I am not going to drink a whole beer with chunks of crap floating in it. Particals yes, CHUNKS no! Smell of prunes, caramel and minor alcohol. Not realy a lot going on in this one. Taste of caramel and a semi dry bitterness. WTF??? Come on Lakefront! Milwaukee is the king of Beer. You guys can’t even make a good barleywine. You should go and slide down that old Bernie Brewer Slide into a mash ton. Maybe it will add some flavor to the barleywine. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 22, 2006 Hazy, chunky, glowing amber/copper. Insignificant head. Toasty caramel/toffee, rich malt, light fruits, earthy hops, and some herbal notes. Balanced brew. Smooth medium palate. Very drinkable. Not overly impressive, but underrated at 2.83. awaller05 (301), Sharon, Wisconsin, USA

I don’t know it was okay but I wouldn’y waste anymore money on this one. Taste was sweet but with a very bitter ending jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 11, 2006 From a 6.3 oz. slender green bottle, I not sure about the vintage, could be 1997, then again not, nothing really states a bottling date that I would trust. I also poured two bottles, one with sediment and one without.
Made an average appearance, poured a cloudy orange hued copper with a fizzy head that quickly settled into a fine lacing, moderate carbonation.
Had a nose of caramel, toffee, raisins, a dry yeastiness and whiffs of alcohol.
A smooth and a little watery lightish medium bodied mouth feel, average barley wine drinkability.
Caramel malty, a light raisin, yeasty, the alcohol is a bit fusel-like and has too large a presence in the taste and a dryish alcohol and malty finish with a subtle toffee flavor lingering in the palate.
An average barley wine in my personal opinion, a bit off balanced. Without the sediment poured in, this barley wine was a less bitter tasting.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 13, 2006 Bottle (2000): Muddy caramel, thin to moderate fizzy off-white head, drops quickly, spotty lacing. Sweet malty aroma,
some butterscotch, maple syrup, and bready notes. As it warms a bit of underarm and wet sock appear. Alcohol becomes more
apparent as well. Alcoholic bready start, somewhat syrupy, very warming, with a bit of dark pitted fruit. Sweeter than the nose
suggests. Body and mouthfeel, while a bit stickly sweet, is fairly moderate. All malt finish, sweet, syrupy, remaining somewhat
bready with soft notes of dark pitted fruit. Tiz okay, but somewhat cloying. Thanks JPDIPSO for the bottle!

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Easily the most flacid barleywine i have ever had. Aroma at first was non-existent,waited,waited,eventually a little estery malt came up,very cloudy and setiment filled, taste was muddled alcohol and some estery malt. Organic, schmorganic, I’m drinking alcohol here,I dont care if a pesticide was used,it will be taken care of in the boil sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 18, 2006 Bottle: Copper, brown color, little to no head. Very sweet aroma, with a bit of soy peaking through. Really malty sweet beer, the alcohol is a bit strong, before seeing this listing I had it pegged at around 13%. Woody finish that was kind of a turn off at first, but it mellowed as the beer warmed. Lots of sediment. But overall not bad.
