| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Pours a pretty golden color wtih a bright white head (full finger thick) that has solid retention and leaves behind very good lacing. The aroma was grassy and bready with some honey, very pilsner-like. The flavor followed suit, strong sweet and thick bready, doughy, pilsner-like, imperial pilsner-like, finishing with a strong bitter and grassy hop touch. Imperial pilsner, blonde bock, whatever you want to call it, but definitely hoppier than your average bock. A little too cloying by the end of the glass, despite the strong hop presence. nick76 (2684), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 9, 2007 Ok I thought the label was just a slick marketing tribute to New Orleans, Mardi Gras, etc. But the aroma actually smells like it has seafood gumbo in it. There is also malted corn, and herbal hops but I get the feeling there is actually a little Louisiana file in there. The appearance is deep golden with a small sized head. The flavor does have a little bit of that gumbo but it is mostly corn, bread dough, and light hops. The palate is smooth. I don’t know what to think of this beer. It is definitely different but more weird than anything else. wxman (588), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 8, 2007 Pours a bright straw color with an acceptable white head. Clean grassy earthy aroma. Surprisingly sweet. Has a boiled corn taste along with pale malt sweetness, some maple syrup, and mild hoppiness. Kind of like a very pleasant non-astringent malt liquor (if such a thing exists). Not bad, I just don’t know what it is. orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 20, 2007 Bottle poured into a stein. Aroma is like sweet sugar candy. Flavor is flat tasting and slightly sweet. Not really a dopplebock like their website claims. In fact its rather dull and hopless. Even lacks in malt. Aroma is interesting. Basically this is an interesting failure that should’ve had the kinks worked out.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 11, 2006 Dark amber color with a adequate head and weak lacing. Aroma of sweet candied fruit and biscuit. An odd sweetness here that many of the Lakefront beers have. Not in a pleasant way, mind you. I’ve come to realize this is their "house flavour". Sticky body and a bit cloying with a thin mouthfeel and weak hop character. Don’t know what I’m missing here as the packaging reads it’s big bodied with a generous amount of malt. Maybe they labeled the wrong beer? I’m having a bad Lakefront tasting as of late.............. Silphium (2144), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2006 Hazy orange, sediment-laden body, thin off-white head. Toasty aroma with burnt caramels and hints of candy corn. Sweet, candy-like body, with notes of nuts and honey (reminiscent of Bit-o-Honey candies), caramel, and toast. Sharp carbonation, light sweet finish. hopdog (5614), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 4, 2006 12oz bottle. Poured a medium orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, a little fruity and some bread. Tastes of sweet fruits, caramel and all around malty. Medium alcohol finish. All around sweet. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 1, 2006 Kind of a letdown from a usually fine brewer. The commercial description calls it a blonde doppelbock, but I agree with the RB assessment that this is a straight bock, and fairly light at that. It has a clear amber body with a skinny little head. The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel. The flavor is sweet, but the malt seems grainy and slightly burnt. Sweet sticky finish. Okay, but I’ve come to expect a lot more from Lakefront.
