This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of foamy light tan colored fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a carbonated very hazy light brown colored body with lots of suspended particulate. The aroma was malty yeasty and musty. The mouth feel was vinous and left an interesting numbing feeling in my mouth. The flavor was malty musty spicy and vinous.

Another from the festival from Hell. Okay, maybe some of the beers are passable, and this certainly is, but one expects to find the best beers at a beer festival. Well, maybe I’m naive in that expectation. This poured a hazy amber with a small, frothy white head. Malt meets the nose first, then notes of caramel, tropical fruit, toasted grain. Medium body with gentle carbonation and watery texture. Flavor was too light for a bock. Some sweetness but lacking depth.

Bottle. Off-white medium sized fizzy head that mostly diminished, minimal lacing, fizzy carbonation, slightly hazy, and an orange hue. Malty, hoppy, caramel, sweet, fruity nose. Flavor was sweet, caramel, fruity, and malty. Mouthfeel was smooth, thin, and refreshing. Light body.

In the bottle. Pours a deep gold/light amber color. Aroma of caramel and yeasty lager dough. Quite sweet with a good mouthfeel. This reminds me a little of the modern-day Dixie, but not the original one.

Bottled. Poured a clear medium amber with a short-lived white head and some small sediment toward the bottom. Picked up some caramel, bread, other darker sugars, and a little alcohol in the nose. Sticky caramel and toffee gave the first impression from the flavor department... light fruits, a tad of floral, and alcohol sugars came through afterwards. Sticky and very sweet on the palate.. a tad cloying at the finish. Just OK.

12 oz bottle from Beer World of Largo <P> Has next to no aroma. A vague "smell" but I wouldn’t even hazard a guess as to what smell that is. Ok I will..it’s kinda a vague alcohol enrinched caramel candy smell, but it is very faint. You have to get your nose wet to smell it. The color is a lusterous amber/orange with a diminishing thumb thick white head. Quite pretty coloring. Fore yields caramel malts, more alcohol than you’d expect from a 6% beer and some mild spice and yeasty notes toward the finish. Not bad really as American Bocks go.

Served as an ultra-clear copper with golden lowlights and a thin film & halo. Lemon peeks through sweet malts in the aroma with nuttiness and an alcoholic pinch. Spicy mouth with sticky malted sweetness elevated by a refreshing, lemon/sugar lift. I could swear I detect the punch of Belgian yeasts and my notes compare that aspect to Leffe Blond. This is an entertaining beer, one that emotes celebration and totally meshed with the Dixieland Jazz that was playing above.

(02.11.06) On tap at Firkin’s, Libertyville, IL. Clear amber hued doppelbock having a giant long lasting off-white head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Fruity/sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy/fruity flavors. Finishes dry with light hop bitterness. Very malty. A good drinkable malty beer.
