Flavor was initially hoppy, but finished pretty weak. Not one of my favorite Lakefront brews, but certainly not terrible. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 14, 2005 Clear copper. Nose bready, some caramel. Flavor sweet caramel malts, some bright fruit, bit chemical. Why is a bock that tastes like a Vienna named after New Orleans, anyways? heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 18, 2005 Medium orange body with a small bubbled slightly off white head. The aroma is pears with some light bread. There is also vanilla and the faintest hint of citrus. The taste is intriguing. A little sweet with carrot juice and some mango. There is also a medicinal quality that is almost like menthol. There is also a litte bit of bread crust. This is a strange package, but not bad. Braudog (3770), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 18, 2005 Robust aroma, sugary and sweet. Drinks smooth and silky with a hint of the alcohol. Caramel sugar with an almost clovey bite. TipsyMcStager (928), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2005 sugary, barley-wine aroma. Pours a nice copper brown. Called a lager, classified as a bock on the site, and tastes like an amber. Go figure. Sweetness and heavy palate. Still a good beer though. Enjoyable and refreshing. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 10, 2005 Slightly cloudy rose-orange pour, lacking much carbonation. Head, mostly diminished, is off-white. Aroma of bread crusts and egg whites, with a hint of lacquer and acidic red wine. Rich sugary malt, that blossoms into a lightly hopped caramel sugar, finishing with a touch of cardboard. A little bitter aftertaste. I’m thinking light struck. Notes of brandy, fresh white wine, and an off tone or two. Palate is smooth, crisp and fairly clean, except for some residual oily wet paper and vanilla sugar coating. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 24, 2005 Bocky butterscotch aroma floating off the wispy-foamed lake surface of orange brew. Buttery, butterscotchy, a hint of lactose bitter-sweetness. Thick palate, suds hitting a bit late to lighten the load. Sticky finish but clean in taste. Aurelius (2652), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2005 Vinegar, sloe and stinky malt aroma - I didn’t care much for it. Tangy, lightly sweet, a bit fruity. Not very hoppy. Fun label, misty copper colored brew with a big bone colored head, suspended bits and particulates floating around in there. Finish has a crisp acidic fruit turn, there’s a little bit of a funky malt aftertaste. A bunt single brew.
