Flavor is similar - very relaxing and employing extreme maltiness to the positive, bringing out elements of caramel apple and maybe a bit of hops. Normally I might cite the low proportion of hops as a detriment for a Doppelbock, but for the style Lakefront has skillfully crafted a malt dominant beer. Hats off to them! balke13 (156), MIssoula, Montana, USA

Very sweet malt aroma with a similar flavor of sweet malt, a slightly sticky body but overall quite smooth and malty. Went down pretty well...better than expected. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Aroma: nice, big, rich, malty, very mellow, not too sweet, straddles the middle line well...
Taste: yum, ...I guess. Nice, malty flavor, but nothing really stands out. This was described to me as a "balls-out blonde doppelbock", and, yes, the booze is shouting out, loud and clear, right now. The taste does not do enough to redeem it, although Lakefront doesn’t tell us the ABV, so we can only guess...7.5%, 8%...whatever, it’s certainly a strong one, but, like I said, there is no even exchange in the area of deliciousness.
Does well in the mouth, body is medium, and the finish, if short, is nice, fruity, decent...but my head is ringing now..."Hello, pigfoot, who’s there? Big Easy? If you’re so big, why aren’t you more easy? Just askin’, love, pigfoot..."
Good beer, yes, but can definitely use improvement.
By the way, my 6-pack came with a lace of beads...does that mean that I have to show my tits?

Light body with a sweet dry finish. Flavors of light malt and delicate hops. Not bad not interesting. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2004 Sweet and malty. Pours as a thick light golden brown. Taste is very sweet, with so much malt that it tastes like it’s been splashed with honey. Some spices (cloves and nutmeg?) give it a slight change of pace, but beer maintains its smooth motif throughout. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

This was a decent pale brown fizzy beer that had a grainy, nutty flavor. Thin bodied and quite boring. Nothing really stands out, but for the nuttiness. Thin watery aftertaste. Strange offering from a normally fine brewery.
