| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2004 Pours a clear copper with a thin white head. Dry, semi sweet aroma has a hint of caramel and some graininess. Body is smooth, with a nice sweetness and crisp finish. Mild floral hop accents, but not much bitterness. A nice easy-drinking bock with good balance. Cornfield (4952), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 1, 2006 Kind of a letdown from a usually fine brewer. The commercial description calls it a blonde doppelbock, but I agree with the RB assessment that this is a straight bock, and fairly light at that. It has a clear amber body with a skinny little head. The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel. The flavor is sweet, but the malt seems grainy and slightly burnt. Sweet sticky finish. Okay, but I’ve come to expect a lot more from Lakefront.

Sweet malt aroma with a touch of alcohol in the background. Strong sweet malt flavors dominate with enough mild bitterness to not make it cloying. Finishes with a mild alcohol kick. A fun festive brew well worth the try. Aroma 8, Appearance 4, Flavor 9, Palate 3, Overall 16 - Rate 4
2004 Version. Dark golden with a dense beige head. Sweet malt and light grass aromas. Malt sweetness with a big floral addition. Does not have the malt depth as in past years. Seems to tbe the same with Capital Maibock as well, perhaps this years malt is lacking. Aroma is honey, hopcitrus, pale malt. Tastes of apricotty fruit, some hopcitric notes, and some peppery notes. There’s a decent amount of fruit, citrus and hops here, making this one a decent beer. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 3, 2003 Updated: Oct 16, 2003Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, fully diminishing. Body is hazy
medium yellow, thick density of tiny particles. Aroma is moderately
malty (cookie, toasted light bread, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs). Flavor is
moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. After talking with the brewer, decided to compromise on the style...I felt it was a basic, if slightly sweet, Dort style, but apparently the ABV is 6%, and I will concede that it's malty/sweet enough to be a Maibock, which is what he suggested.
