A surprisingly complex beer, flavors of sweet malt, vanilla, honey with a yeast feel to it. Delicious. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

Flavor is similar - very relaxing and employing extreme maltiness to the positive, bringing out elements of caramel apple and maybe a bit of hops. Normally I might cite the low proportion of hops as a detriment for a Doppelbock, but for the style Lakefront has skillfully crafted a malt dominant beer. Hats off to them! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 13, 2004 Clear coppery amber brown with a showcasing of unfiltered floaty things suspended within even as a steady stream of carbonation bubbles rises for a good while, medium ivory head appeared but zipped away pretty darn quick and no lace anywhere. Smell is grassy, husky, toasty, whole grainy, bagel dough sweetness resides lightly underneath. Flavors are nice, refined whole grain richness that has a toasty breadishness and buttery notions, not overly sweet or cloying in the malts, very solid malt display with some grassy openness floating around and a delicate dryness. Feel is significantly bold and malty rich, creamy, yet favorably carbonated and full of good zip. One of the better Pale/Blonde Bocks I've had, subtle, rich, and pretty flavorful and drinkable with nearly no alcohol traces except for what effects it has on the noggin after a couple. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2006 This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of foamy light tan colored fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a carbonated very hazy light brown colored body with lots of suspended particulate. The aroma was malty yeasty and musty. The mouth feel was vinous and left an interesting numbing feeling in my mouth. The flavor was malty musty spicy and vinous. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Appearance: Pours a clear, golden body with a medium-sized, white head.
Smell: Sweet-smelling mixture of malts and corn with notes of flowers, Golden Delicious apples, light citrus, and, oddly enough, some vanilla.
Taste: Quite sweet bready maltiness and creamed corn with some curious traces of smooth vanilla. Drizzle of tart apple juices. Floral tones with some light citrus. Low bitterness. Touch of alcohol precedes the smooth, drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-low carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Well, to be honest, it was actually better than expected. It’s smooth, it’s sweet, it’s Mardi Gras-approved! MrPickles (120), Wisconsin, USA

Light amber color, not what you’d expect from a bock. It pours a finger think head that leaves a thin lacing. Light malt aroma and taste. Very smooth and drinkable, with the two different styles on the same beer, it tastes great, but it doesn’t strike me as a bock.
