Commercial Description:
This recipe is a true craft ale brewed with only water, yeast, hops and malted barley, in keeping with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. We have designed it with a vibrant golden amber hue and a refreshing body. The mild addition of Kent Golding hops balances the generous amounts of caramel malts to give it a malty rather than a bitter finish. A special strain of California Ale Yeast gives the brew a slight hint of fruity aroma.

This beer didn’t do much for me...struck as a rather malty amber ale with not much fruitiness. It was sort of a "tweener;" there are beers that are maltier and beers that are hoppier. This beer didn’t scratch either of my usual beer itches. Appearance was a rather dark amber. Aroma was of slight fruitiness (but that is me reaching - it was very slight). Flavor was very malty with no hop taste.

Not a pleasing experience. Aroma is rather sweet - as was the taste. Not what I would normally think of as an ale. Not a thirst quencher, not a brew to slowly savor. More of a beer to force down. From the brewer of Riverwest Stein and East Side Dark - a letdown.

A bit of glowing orange color in the glass. No real head to speak of after the small bead white bubbles rapily diminish. Mild must be a synonym for lite, becuase this beer has little aroma and lets the water break through the palate and the taste. Grainy and a little caramelly, some floral aspect. Rough, short, and thin on the tongue.

(12oz bottle, brewed 4th week of October) Minimal head atop crystal clear apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, some spoiled milk. Taste is medium sweet, orange, grain, light caramel. Light-medium body.

12 oz bottle. Pours to a bright, deep golden color, with a tight white head that fades, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is a touch malty with aromas of grainy/pale malt. The palate is light on the tongue, with flavors of grain and light pale malt sweetness. This beer finishes as it begins, with more pale malt, and light sweet malt flavor, and some mild hop bitterness to balance the malt character of this beer out. Light, easy drinking beer, that has nice malt flavor. This makes for a good drinking beer, and a nice beer to match with a varitey of dishes. Not the type of beer a beer geek is going to get too excited about, but I enjoyed it for what it is.

12 oz. bottle. Aroma of white grape juice or sweet white wine, a bit like a malty example of a pale lager. Pours a clear gold with a small amount of white head. Sharp, slightly sour flavor that is more reminiscent of a wine than a typical beer. All flavors are subdued, especially the hops, which are barely present at all. Odd but welcome aftertaste. Lively and light-bodied in the palate. Lakefront Cattail Ale isn’t awful; it’s just... mild. Forgettable.

Clear, medium gold appearance with a small off- white head and no lacing. Mild vegatal aroma with a slightly earthy edge. Non-descript taste, some fruitiness, moderately sweet. Light bodied with a dry, short lived finish.

Slightly musty on the nose. Light yellow orange color and cloudy in the glass, with a good white head. Very drinkable with its malt flavor. No ending, nothing. Slightly frothy on the tongue. Overall this is not a bad beer. Could be a training beer for the uninitiated micro brew drinkers.
