Commercial Description:
Eastside Dark The rich, coffee-like aroma and flavor ot this find Dark Bavarian style lager beer is derived from a precise blending of three different specialty barley malts, chocolate, black patent, and Munich malt. Munich malt is also added to bring about the creamy body of this malty brew that has an original gravity of 1060. The most impressive aspect of ths brew is the perfect balance between the specialty malts and coveted Mt. Hood hops. Unlike many other dark beers, East Side Dark doesn't have the bitter aftertaste associated with it. Instead, your palate is greeted with the rich body and balanced flavor that only this beer can deliver.

Clear mahogany color with a thin head. Nice roasted malt nutty smell. Rich robust taste of dark roasted malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. Very smooth blackened malt taste to finish. 112306

Pours a clear dark brown with a minimal tan head. Nose is so minimally earthy and leafy that it is almost non-existent. Flavor is earthy and leafy with a bitter tang to it. Feel has a decent bubble and the liquid is nice too, but overall this is a lackluster performance. Nothing to run to the store to grab hold of.

Sorry, I just don’t see it. 12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a dark amber color, with a thin tan head. Aromas are of slight roasted malts, yeasty bread, earthy hops. Flavors about the same as aromas. Thin body, thin mouthfeel. Finished too sweet. Not that great a beer overall.

Bottle, from the mixer. Pours a dark brown with very little head. Aroma is light, but a bit sweet, has some dryer sheet smell, some hint of clean coffee pot. Flavor comes in with the taste of munich malt, some faint powdery chocolate, and a little coffee. Also has some fresh grass and earthiness to it towards the finish. Overall such a thin profile I had to search for descriptions. Finish is clean, somewhat earthy, and short as hell. I guess I’m missing the "rich body" in this and if by "balanced flavor" they mean they are balancing beer with water then they are definitely right. Plain and empty and another disapointment out of my mixer.

12 ounce bottle from a mixed 8 pack that was purchased at Nugget in Woodland, CA. Quite a bit of roastiness present with some espresso coffee notes as well. There is a bit of an acetic aroma, too. Mahogany/cola colored body with a smallish light tan head. Start has some of the metallic lager-like flavors present, which gives way to a nice, mildly sweet maltiness in the middle. Roasted notes and some light coffee make an appearance. A light, estery finish with a kiss of hops seals the deal. Pretty drinkable stuff.
