Totally dark appearance with a small, mocha colored head that faded to zero. Roasted malt aroma with coffee (go figure) dominating. The roasted malts deliver some sweetness, with a trace of dried fruit, to the flavor, balanced with a modest amount of hops. The medium-bodied mouthfeel lead to a long lasting, slightly cloying, finish.

Pours a opaque black colour with a small fizzy tan head. Nose of roasted coffee, mollasses, dark malts, hints of dark fruits, hopps, and metallic. Initial taste of dark fruits moving into a roasted coffee beans that really represent the backbone. Finishing with a lingering roasted coffee and light hops & dark chocolate on the palate. Decent duration & warming palate, slight head retention. Medium to full body.

12 oz. bottle coutesy of Acknud. Pours almost dead black, the color of black coffee. Coincedence, I think not. Nose is strongly of coffee. Taste is as you would expect from reading the commercial description, COFFEE. There are some roasted malts in the background. There is none of the usual caramel, toffee, & chocalate flavors usually found in stouts. Good creamy mouthfeel.

Had this beer on 1/16/2004. Aroma is a rich sweet roasted malt scent. Color is a dead on solid black. Carbonation looks good with a thin tight head. Taste is rich and dry. Starting with a full body it goes down rich with a slightly sharp feel. Finish is a nice sweet roasted malt flavor backed by a gentle bitterness and end with a nice dry feel. I don’t taste any coffee flavors and is just a hair too sweet for a Stout.

From the bottle, courtesy of Secret Santa, pours black with a bubbly brown head, not much by way of lacing. Smells a dark roasted malts, and there’s a bitterness in the aroma as well. Taste is bitter, a bit milky. There’s a sweetness to it that is unexpected, especially given the aroma. Also quite smooth, I’d compare this to a milk stout, specifically Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. This doesn’t taste as much like coffee as I expected from the name and commercial description, which doesn’t bother me. Not bad.

12 oz Bottle-Poured a dark black color w/no head. Strong coffee aroma, this thing will fuel you up! Traces of chocolate & roasted malt mix well w/ the coffee flavor, but this is a big beer, if you don’t like coffee you won’t like this. As the bar owner told me, "that beer just has too much going on for me"! I found it to ba a nice change of pace. Long, creamy finish.

Pretty nice, alot of coffee, dry chocolate and roast, with a medium thick mouthfeel. Well integrated flavors. Semi-dry finish. Very dark brown, large creamy head. For once a coffee beer that doesn’t come across thin or watery, or overly dominated by coffee flavors. The chocolate notes give it a mocha type character, and could even be brought out more.

Bottle. The lable does not lie, this is a coffee stout. Aroma of strong coffee, with some malt. Malty clavour, with much coffee and a little chocolate. Coffee finish. This one is light enough in alcohol to drink at lunch, and you can say you had coffee.
