Aroma is roasty with a bit of smoke and mild coffee notes. The body is thin - a bit disappointing. Flavour is alright, typical roasted malt notes, with some caramel and coffee, but not as much of the latter as I expected, and a touch of sourness in the finish. A pretty middle of the road stout - I didn’t hate it, but it didn’t wow me either. tranum (34), delafield, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Updated: Jan 24, 2007The aroma of this beer was amazing and it has a very nice appearance. My problem was that it was not strong enough. It smells like caramel and coffee and tastes the same yet I was hoping it would be a little stronger. gws57 (1137), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Got this one bottled from the brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Beautiful very dark brown pour with a dark tan head that dissippated into an off-white lace rapidly. Nose of cold coffee and not much else. Very pronounced sweetness of kopi manis, with a very milky mouthfeel, with lots of bitter chocolate, allspice. Incredibly smooth. Finishes gently and very satisfyingly. Amazing. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2006 I like coffee. I like beer. Deep coffee stouts are hard to rate for me. I don’t know if I like my beer to taste like coffee, and I don’t know if I like my coffee to taste like beer. (I am fine with coffee that tastes like Kahlua, or Jameson’s, though). Had this one from a bottle I picked up at the brewery. A thick, semi-opaque brown pour with a thick dark tan head. Very mild coffee nose, but a strong coffee and malt flavor. No real bite. I might have to re-rate this one next time I’m in MIlwaukee. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 2, 2006 Dark ruby-black body with no real head. Coffee aroma. Coffee-bean taste, some spices that frankly throw the entire beer off. Thin body with an ending that reminds me a Mexican food. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 17, 2006 pours black with a thin head. aroma of coffee and roasted malts and barley. flavor is weak coffee and a little chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. They should have used more malt, coffee, and everything else to make this a better beer. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 13, 2006 bottle - Pours dark brown to black with a very thin head. The aroma of roasted malts and coffee is pleasant enough. The flavor is consistent with the aroma and there isn’t much else going on here. You’ve got roast malt and you’ve got a fairly mild coffee flavor. It’s too light and the body is too thin to be a particularly good stout. It’s okay, but certainly not worth seeking out.
