hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle. Small fizzy iovry head that mostly diminished with very little lacing, fast rising carbonation, hazy, and an amber hue. The nose was sweet, oranges, spicy, some clove, hint of cinammon, and some honey. Ditto for the flavor with a semi-dry finish. Mouhtfeel was tingly with a bit of a warming sensation. Medium in body. Quaffable and not a bad beer, but the combination of flavors just wasn’t a hit with me and left me not wanting this one again.
mcjay (12), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Aug 6, 2008 I enjoy many Lakefront beers but this is not one of them. I even tried it twice just to make sure. Too much spice and not enough lager almost like drinking a ginger beer. phishpond417 (1360), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 20, 2008 Decent beer. pours a dark copper colour, tan head, medium sized. aroma is sweet, carmel, toffee and almonds. mouthfeel is light, slightly watery. finish is weak. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 27, 2008 This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a hazy brown colored body with suspended carbonation and an excellent lacing. The aroma was cloven with spicy herbal notes. The mouth feel was tingly and semi-thick from start to finish. The flavor contained notes of spices herbs clove and was well mixed. I found it to be actually quite good and better than I was expecting. very quafable! EithCubes (1797), Indiana, USA Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Spice aroma, nutmeg, orange, cherry, light honey. Deep murky mahogany brown tinged with ruby, and a lacing, nicely tanned head. Acidic, tart, even slightly whiskyish taste, sour cherries and oranges with allspice and a great deal of ginger. A little stale caramel. And man, kinda boozy! Guessing 9-10%. Light-medium body. I’m guessing this would pair well with certain types of holiday food, but here, in warmer times, she’s just out of place. esjaygee (721), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 Hazy orange with a medium off-white slowly diminishing head. Aroma of cinnamon, honey, yeast, clove and nutmeg. Taste of cinnamon, spice, honey, clove with a very spicy finish with just a hint of alcohol, meaning it hides it well. Though I had this one on the summer solstice I still found it too be a decent beer… nothing I’d want to session but would take it over most summer beers.
