Commercial Description:
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

Very mild aroma consisting of yeast and grains. Cloudy dark golden color with a small white head. Uninteresting mild malt flavor with a watery palate.

Slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. Faint malty aroma. lagerish malt taste with a light sour hop finish. Not bad for a pils, I suppose.

12 ounce bottle. Pilsner glass. Pale golden with a decent head. Aroma was of malt and floral hops. Taste was sweet with lemony and citrus notes. Not really for me.

12 Oz Bottle. Clean mid-yellow pour, with a white rim of rocky foam. Aroma of tangy malt and lemon. Flavor is a sweet, lightly tongue tingling tang of salt, lemon and clean malt. Sour dryness seems in line with the other examples I’ve had of the style. I’m on the fence about some esters present in the beer, somewhat indistinct, yet almost yeasty in a Belgian way. While seemingly uncharacteristic, they add a pleasurable facet of depth and intrigue. Hop character could be more forward. Appreciable.

golden appearance, flavor is malty but doesn’t have the nice hoppy balanced finish that is present in good pilsners

12 oz. bottle from the variety 8 pack - Pours a clear golden color with a one finger thick white head. Aroma is light grain and noble hops. Flavor is also light grain and hops. Not a lot of flavor here. Light to medium body. A smooth, easy drinking Pils.

Klisch Pilsner was Lakefront’s first bottled beer back in November 1990 when it was known as Klisch Lager. Today’s Klisch Pilsner is a little lighter than it was in 1990 but still has the quality. Pours a light golden yellow brewhitw a thick white head. A little high on the carbonation. Aroma is light sweet barley malt, honey and some white enriched bread. Flavor is buttered white toaste with butter and some sweet hops. Finish is a bit grainy and somewhat dry. A good average pilsner.
