Commercial Description:
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

Hazy light straw, nearly clear at the bottom of the glass. Aromas are a bit grassy/wheaty with some coriander/cinnamon spice and lemon. Rough palate, very lightweight. Hardly any finish. Kind of watery. The level of carbonation works here, though. Lemon shows through on the flavor, along with nondescript grains. Some earthen-tasting hops here as well.

Light gold appearance with a small white head and little lacing. Soft, low key, malty aroma. Sweet malt taste, a little on the thin side, fruity, with some mild bitterness near the finish. Light bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel.

(12oz bottle, bottled first week, November) Small white head atop clear straw body. Aroma is mild, medium sweet, some herbal/floral, grain. Taste is medium sweet, herbal, cereal, some floral, light metallic. Some bitterness, to be certain, but very mild. Light-medium body.

12 oz bottle. Pour to a slightly hazy, bright golden color, with a tall, white head that fades, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is crisp, with some light pilsner malt aromas, and light herbal hop aroma. The plate is lean, with crisp pale malt flavor, on a round, clean body. This beer finishes with more crisp and clean pilsner malt up front, then ends with a light, mild herbal hop bite that balances. As far as German Pils goes, I would have liked more vibrant herbal hop aroma, and bitterness. This beer is more of a Czech Pilsner than a German Pils, which has more aggressive hop character. A nice, easy drinking beer, this one is a great beer if you wanted to have more than a few. Would match well with a number of dishes as well. Good beer, but not the kind that will grab your attention.

Faint malt on the nose in there somewhere. Pours watery yellow. Never seen this before. Medium white head that dies quickly. Light malt taste with a slight citusy ending. Frothy in the mouth.

Pours a nice clear deep gold. This thing has a hugely thick head of off white suds, producing great lace. Great lacing. Toasted malt and herbal hops in the aroma. Initially tangy but then a quite sweet malt flavor. Caramel honey malt and with a sugary sweet presence. Too much sugar. Floral hop presence and mild bitterness behind these. Too floral. Medium body. Solid carbonation. A citric hop and a generic sugary flavor come out in the aftertaste. No real flaws but also nothing interesting from my perspective. No more for me...

Nice pun on the name for the owner Russ Klisch. Unfortunately, that’s about where it ends. I agree with the grassy notes and a lack of hop character typical of the style. Just not "enough". An odd lemony character to it, but nothing that makes me think something’s wrong with it. Light in color, taste, malt character, hop profile and finish. I really am missing that crisp character indicative of this style. Disappointing.

Nothing exciting here and quite dissapointing compared to their other choices. Its bready, grassy, and watery and lacks a hop punch that this style should have This is a bold style that should have character despite mass belief. Either way I’m just a critic and this is a fine craft brewery (try cream city and thier abbey strong ale).
