Commercial Description:
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

I am far from an unbiased reviewer of this beer, because I LOVE Lakefront. They were my early education on what craft brewing was. However, I am not a big fan of this beer. Perhaps I am not a fan of the style, but the taste is just to earthy / sour to me.

Cloudy yellow-orange body, thin-medium off-white head. Cerealy nose, bready with grassy hops and light tanginess. Earthy body, with light breads, wet hay, and lemon. Cookie-like. Crisp palate with sharp carbonation. Well-done.

"Bottled Feb. 06." So this may be a bit old. Pours darker than the average pilsener, and with some cloudiness. Some oxidation smell in the neck that clears away after pouring. Taste has some malts to it. But this bottle seems to have sat warm for a while, and picked up some ale fruitiness, mostly sour cherry. Hops are a bit lost. But I think I need to get fresher samples and re-rate.

The aroma has citrus and herbal hops with malt and yeast. It smells a lot like herb sourdough bread with alcohol. The appearance is gold with a light amber tint. The head is medium sized but fades pretty fast. The palate is good. The aftertaste is herbal and slightly sour. This is a well-made beer but maybe a little off the mark for it’s style.

(bottle) Deep yellow, slightly hazy, small white head. Small malt aroma. Flavor is mostly malt, ?corn (not supposed to be in there), some hops. Not as crisp as I’d expect a pilsner to be

Bottle... Hazy yellow lager with a small, fizzy, white head. Lactic, fruity aroma. The flavor is malty-sweet and lightly tart with a spicy hop bite. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes crisp and tangy. A shout goes out to headbanger for sending the bottle my way!

Got this one bottled straight from the brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Medium yellow pour with a medium white head that dissipated slowly, had a delightful grassy, flowery nose, with some notes of orange and grape, unusual for a pils. Finishes strong and very clean. I liked this one.

Almost no aroma. Heads up nicely but goes away fast. Taste is very nice. A light grainy/hoppy flavor throughout, above average for a pilsener. Has some latiness coming through in the end, but really a very pleasant surprise.
