Commercial Description:
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

12z bottle. Golden, cognac color. Minimal head. Musty, alcohol nose. Lively and effervescent. Nice caramel and sweet citrus hop note. Mellow finish. Nice and perfumy.

Amber pils with a light white head. Sweet malt and light czech hops in aroma. Nice sweet malt in mouth, with caramel and fruity notes. Medium bodied. Mondial 2005.

01-Jan-06 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Ughsmash, thanks Jason!) Bottled during week 4 of July, 2005. Okay, the rerate I was hoping to do, and I guess indeed this is what the beer is supposed to taste like. Again with this bottle, the beer has the very odd combination of moderately acidic and sour citrus and lightly sweet tropical fruitiness. What I don’t get a lot of is traditional pilsener-like flavors because those are fairly well masked. The light grain is very difficult to pick up, and the spicy, grassy hops seems most prominent late in the finish once the sourness fades off the tongue a bit. Accordingly, the nose is tart citrus and light sweetness. Light-medium bodied, fairly crisp, good carbonation. Pale golden, slightly hazy, capped by a small, white head that leaves some stringy lacing on the glass while fading to a ring. Well, I’ve tried twice, and I don’t think I’ll make a third effort. It’s just an odd-tasting beer and it in no way reminds me of a German pilsener.

18-Sep-05 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with footbalm, thanks Eric!) So I can’t figure out if this beer is slightly spoiled, or just not very good. It smells a little tart, vegetal, almost a bit vinegary, and I know that can’t be intended. Behind this is a modest graininess that just gets lost. But at least in the flavor, the tropical fruity tartness isn’t totally unpleasant, but nevertheless, I hope this isn’t intended either. Actually, there’s also a slight flavor that is reminiscent of wine barrels. Light-medium in body, with the sourness making this beer quite refreshing. Pale golden color, fully clear in appearance, and topped by a small, white head that settles to a ring. I’ll make a note to obtain this in a trade again and then rerate. (4, 2, 4, 3, 8 = 2.1)

Clear deep gold. Nose sweet malt, some chemical character. Flavor sweet, a few hops, some cardboard and weed killer. Uninspiringly flat.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with Jcapriotti (thanks!). Bottle labeled bottled during Jul WK4. Poured a lighter and slightly hazy golden color with a smaller sized with head. Aromas of grain, wet grass and light citrus. Tastes of grain and light citrus with a light grassy finish. Thinner body.

Thanks to Klisch the revolution will not be televised. Wet cardboard aroma, the amber color was darker than pils I’m used to sampling, and the smokey flavor was too bitter for the style.

Aroma gives off the havest odors you would find in the fall of the year. Wheat and barley harvested from the fields. Gold body with white disipating head. Flavor is just abouve the typical pils because you get a wheat and bready flavor other than the bitterness. Decent beer.

golden color small white head, mild aroma of light grass hop and nothing else coming out as well. Palate is very light, ok coating. Flavor is odd lightly pine bitter hint of orange rind and a touch tart. This stuff isn’t very good.
