I have not had any of their products before. This beer was more reminiscent of a pale lager than a pilsner. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with only a trace of a white head. The aroma is sour malts and is a bit skunky. The flavor is sour malt, sharp spicy hops and a bit of skunk on the finish. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

It lacks the familiar pilsner hop aroma, leaving a lager yeast aroma as the only discernable scent. Darker gold than many pilsners, the beer has a weak head for the style. Has a big body and mouthfeel for a pilsner and lacks just about any hop bitterness to the taste. Very easy to drink and would be a fine beer for someone at this brewpub who dislikes flavorful beer. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is rather malty and of all things somewhat chocalatey (could pass for a stout with the eyes closed)! And the flavor of this beer indeed does have a tang to it that resembles gueuze -- in fact this is the dominant element. There is also a pleasant malt backdrop to the flavor that is UNlike any Belgian gueuze; another difference between the genres is the lack of spontaneous high carbonation found in artisan beers (not to say that this beer is poorly carbonated at all, by conventional standards). Hops are in the flavor as well, but only if you hold your breath and let it sit in the mouth; perhaps could use a few more hops but based on the commercial description hops are already highly prevalent in this beer -- fermented perhaps to a tangy state? Finish is perhaps the lowest aspect, being slightly cloying and malt-syrupy. Overall though, Klisch is a pleasant surprise. And if you haven’t had a gueuze to compare this to, now’s the time. Decent, average, drinkable...I can’t work up a lot of enthusiasm for this one...can you tell? Try their Fuel Cafe or Pale Ale. Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2005 Very clean tasting, crisp, and almost sparkling. Floral and hoppy tastes dominate, with toasted undertones. Goes down smooth, albeit if not a little too sharp for the thinness. A great beer to go with something broiled, especially fish. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 10, 2005 Clear golden, short lived head. Light Saaz aroma. Taste is pretty sweet, in fact too much. There are a few bitter notes, but they are drowned out by the sugariness of the beer. PattiA (49), Madison, New Hampshire, USA
