Commercial Description:
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

pours light golden color with quickly disappearing head. scent is of amonia and some smelly feet. taste is a little better, but still has some stale taste to it. Maybe it was an old bottle, but either way, it didn’t taste very pleasent. I wouldn’t purchase this again.

pour is light golden with little head. Aroma is a little skunked but the flavor is very sweet and smooth. Very little hop character. Decent for a pils. Probably won’t buy again however.

Color of straw with a thin white head. Lactic malty aroma with a hint of fruit. Taste of cereal malt, some tartness, spice and mild floral notes. It has a bit of the Saaz hoppiness I associate with a Bohemian Pilsner like Pilsner Urquell but muted. A bit of minerals on the finish along with some caramel and brisk carbonation. Seems more a Vienna than a German Pils but I ain’t complaining and I dig the old-timey art deco label.

Darker than what I think of as a pilsener. Full mouthfeel, aroma and taste of spicy Euro hops. Definite twang on tongue during sample. I’d give this to anyone asking for a crisp lager.

Bottled. Pilsnener? Who got to vote on that classification? Not even remotely a pils IMHO. Maybe more true to the Vienna style? Cloudy appearance, very malty and no real hop character at all. Not a bad beer, but weird to call this a classic German pils.

12oz brown bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester as part of this brewery’s sampler 8-pack. Pours a light straw body with a quarter inch of off-white head that quickly dissipates. Smells sweet and bready, as well as slightly fruity. Tastes sweet, bready, slightly nutty... Not a lot of hop presence (surprisingly). Light bodied with moderate carbonation... Tasty and drinkable, though not quite to style IMO. Still a pretty solid beer.

This light bodied brew pours a straw yellow colour with virtually no head. grainy and slightly malted on the palate. not a whole lot of flavor, just very light and smooth. Crisp and clean with a slightly grainy finish.
