Commercial Description:
In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

12oz bottle. Poured a clear golden-orange color. Head was foamy and white with good retention. The aroma was of yeasty bread dough, light grassy hops, and a hint of graham. Delicately sweet on the tongue and light to medium bodied. I tasted bready malt, biscuits, and subdued noble hops. Occasionally I detected a bit of pear. There was also a hint of caramel in the finish. Simple, but pretty nice.

This is a nice, crisp lager but I would not cal it a classic German or Bohemian/Czech Pilsner since it really is not very hoppy but is instead rather like a good-quality traditional American-style lager. It is gold with a meadium white head that quickly shrinks to a small, lasting top that leaves some lace in rings. The aroma is pleasant grain with hints of herbs and pine sap. The taste is a light but very nice basic golden lager with smooth apple, hints of grain, grass, and pine, with the grain becoming more promiment in the finish. It is lightly sweet and bitter. It becomes slightly more bland and mineral-water like near the end but still retains decent flavour and body. It’s good for a basic lager but is not a true pilsner - it lacks the bitterness and the hop flavour of real pilsners and it lacks the richer, more bready malt body of good Czech lagers.

Dull colour, lacking both carbonation and head. Smells kind of catty, a little bit minerally, and fairly herbal. Drinks light - not really enough bitterness for a pilsner. Still a bit catty in the hop character. The malts aren’t bad, but they’re not bright either. A bit disappointing.

Golden pour with off-white head. Nose is hopcitrus, some limey notes, mild pale malt. Tastes smooth, with hop, pale malt, and limey notes intermingling and a crisp finish. I’d drink this again.

Pale straw gold, small fading head. Fast action bubble constantly rising to the top makes this look very fresh and lively. Zesty lemon aroma for this polsner with more floral smell than the slight hops that arrives in the end - a refreshing smell. Hops is front and center in the taste, and strong hop at that. Equally powerful is the malt flavor in this beer. Frankly this pilsner delivers more aroma and more taste than any I can recall trying. Better than the big US brews and better than the green bottle imports.

Bottled. Poured hazy medium golden with rising carbonation and a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up soft bready notes with accents of lemon zest and sugared cereal.. became really sweet as it warmed, and somewhat off-putting. The flavor followed the same course, and was almost sickeningly sweet.. cereal malts, grassy notes, and light lemon zest.. short, sweet finish was OK. Lighter-bodied on the palate with higher carbonation.. rather smooth across the palate, but too sweet for my liking.

Pale golden beer with a thick fast fading white head. Aroma is light and grainy. A kiss of herbal hops. Clean maltiness with a soft floral note as well. Lightly sweet. Good-balanced beer, pale pilsner malt, clean bitterness with a soft floral hop finish.
