Aug 4, 2008 12 fl. oz. bottle via Lubiere, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: A lovely shade of deep auburn, clear, remnants of a light tan head.
Aroma: Quite sour, almost a touch of lambic with the organic acids and a hint of funk, a little caramel malt behind that, sour cherries and other tart fruits,
Palate: Medium body and carbonation, with some astringency.
Flav.: An odd, sour fruitiness, a bit earthy and vinous, a touch of wood, slightly peppery (maybe); a bit tart, somewhat bitter with a mineral-malt finish that softens into brown sugar.
I think something is wrong here. Didn’t expect that much tang. Maybe the pesticides act like preservatives...

Aug 2, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden amber color with a nice solid, frothy white head that has great lacing. Aroma is of caramel malts and earthy notes, almost dirt. Flavor is mostly caramel malt, with a good amount of bitterness. Not bad, but nothing great. A nice addition to the Organic front of beers. I have never seen an organic ESB before and it is a nice option. As an ESB goes though, I have had better.

Jul 29, 2008 Bottle: Pour a amber color with little head. The aroma was bitter malts and floral hops. The flavor was rather bland, nothing special, not much bitter.

Jul 5, 2008 This beer was better before it went organic. Now it is thin and does not have much flavor. Fairly malty with not enough hops to make it a bitter.

Very non-descript. Nice enough to enjoy, No real body and a little watery. more like a light lager.

Jun 28, 2008 Rather earthy aroma and flavor but a bit too much caramel malt in my opinion even though I realize its supposed to be a malty beer. I have to sample the other Lakefront beers as it seems pretty well crafted except for some metallic undertones in the aftertaste. I’m not an ESB fan but I bet the other beers by this brewery rock. I get the sense they put a lot into this one even if it didn’t strike my richter scale.
