The aroma was of cedar and floral hops, sweet bready malts. The flavor was cedar and floral hops over top of toffee, caramel, and bready malts, slight spicing. Mouthfeel was moderate, a little malty thick as it warmed. I enjoyed this more than others did. scluffman (14), Excelsior, Minnesota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 22, 2006 Orangey/amber in color with a thin lightly tan head. Citrusy fruit aromas with some caramel malt and a surprisingly low amount of hopiness. Seems to have a better balance of fruit, malt and hops on the palate than the nose. A definite touch of sweetness. A bit thin in the mouthfeel. Loses some points on drinkability due to a slightly cloying finish.
Overall an okay beer, but a bit disappointed after hearing so many other beer drinkers talk it up. (Judging from my fellow RATEBEER reviewers I guess I’m not the only one.)
Out of the ESBs I’ve tried to date this was just not doing it for me.

Aroma is sweet and malty. Body was a bit thin, but had a nice blend of sweet maltiness and hops. Mungo (2473), Southampton, Hampshire, England

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 11, 2006 Clear amber, moderate head, blah lacing. Aroma is not English hops. I thought it was an uncommon American variety, but I guess they’re German. Very fruity aroma with caramel. Flavor is the same but it’s less enjoyable. Watery body and texture. Not a fan. argo0 (7016), Washington DC, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Bottle at Kook’s Leaving Do at Chris_o’s. Deep clear copper/amber with lasting thin off white head. Odd hoppy aroma, bit of herb, fruity flavours in mouth, red berries (but only I got this). Stickyish hop. Bit of toffee on aroma. Clean flavour. Hop citrus finish. Unlike a UK ESB
