Juicy, mildly toasty and fruity malt flavor with some firm bitterness. Fairly light bodied. A fair ESB for summer. Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2005 Organic is interesting, and I was curious to see if it made an impact on the taste. Very grounded, low-key flavors. Everything is nicely balanced, and fairly flavorful, they just don’t jump out at you. Mild, leafy hops and caramel malt are the most prominent tastes, just ahead of pecans, toast, and black beans. Everything is a bit earthy, and the texture is quite chewy. Reminds me of a brown, but it is still a bitter. Goes great with lunch. brewblackhole (1374), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2005 Light, leafy green hops float over caramel and bready malts. Clear, copper coloured body is topped by a decent white head that lasts nicely and laces well. Round, bready and caramel malts are thick in the mouth with light finishing bitterness to take the edge off. Chewy, thick, malty, medium body with soft, low, but engaging carbonation. An excellent session bitter. I’m surprised at the low ratings. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005. GonZoBeeR (2161), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 9, 2005 Pours amber in color with a decent head that settled back to an eighth of an inch. Aroma is hops and some sweet malt. Not much flavor though.. Some mild malts and hops but very watery on the palate. Kind of bitter at first but more sweet than I expected for an ESB. Not real complex. Drinkable. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2005 Updated: Nov 21, 2007In the bottle. Pours an orange-amber with an initially bodacious head that gives out after a couple of sips from a parched mouth. Pretty nice aroma of medium alpha hops. Palate is definitely NOT buttery and this means that I will not ever drink this again. Flavor is tart at first and then swings directly into a couple of waves of mild bitterness. This beer is, in fact, salty. The body is a little too watery for my tastes in this style. (Previous rating 2.3) UPDATE 11/2007: In the bottle from Total Beverage. Well, I proved myself wrong above and tried this again. Brownish amber with a large off-white head. Slightly roasted toffee aroma. Good malt thickness. Nice and true to style by my standards today. Very quick finish with only a residual lingering bitterness. Good malt thickness that did not exist before. Either my beer appreciative skills sucked before, or the brewer has seriously improved this beer from its previous incarnation.
