Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

I’m not very familier with this stye of beer. That said, I’m not sure I’d make it a regular part of the rotation. That’s not say it was bad, it poured a nice dark copper color and had plenty of malty flavor, it just seemed pretty average. Worth another shot down the road though.

Chill hazed copper amber with a small almond head. Malty toffee rules the nose, with hints of spicy hops and red apple skins. Taste follows suit with an added metalic note that fits in nicely. Very enjoyable.

Pours out nice amber color with fluffy white head. Nice malty sweetness in the nose. Malt stays on through the taste with a touch of spice to make it interesting. This is a nice german style beer with a little twist.

Poured a very nice swirl of mahogany and copper. The head was slightly off-white and had some retention. Some lacing. The aroma was malty and sweet with some nice floral and citrus undertones. The flavor followed suit. Malt was the star of the show, but the floral and citrus hops balanced it out nicely. Average body and mouthfeel. Nice.

Overall, a very credible brew. Pours a dark, golden amber with a reasonable creamy head. The palate is a wheaty base overlain with sweet malts, caramel, and cracked, roasted barley. Respectable hops and a nice alcohol warming comes through in the finish.

This just isn’t my thing. I know plenty of people who drink nothing else. Caramel and smoke with lots and lots and lots of malt flavor. Just not me, though. Interesting that the "serve in" descriptions don’t include "stein."

12 oz bottle. Deep amber colour, chreamy tan head. Lovely deep malty aroma, toasted malt and soft sweet caramel. Quite clean smelling and very fresh. Moderate/light bitterness but just enough to balance the chewy sweetness. Very nice vienna.
