jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 24, 2007 Very deep, opaque reddish brown. Sweet malt aromashickory, cereal grains. Well balanced. I love the raw grain finish after a touch of grapefruit/pine hops. All kinds of malt, some chocolate, some spice, some roasted notes. Fairly clean finish. A great, dark vienna. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Mar 20, 2007 Pour is a amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma is a pretty decent amount of sweet and toasted malts. Flavor is caramel with a fresh hop backbone. A decent example of the style and a pretty good beer, especially for this brewer. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 21, 2007 This beer is pretty common here in Milwaukee (it’s even at sporting events), and I’ve had it a few times. It tastes to me like an amber ale with a good hop presence (rather than as a Vienna or Maarzen), and is rather good.
Appearance is a dark red-brown color with decent head formation. Aroma is a nice caramel malt and fruity hop balance. Flavor is also similarly balanced, with an assertive hop presence. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Quite good. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Feb 19, 2007 Poured fairly clear brownish auburn. Medium head. Medium body; somewhat sweet; malt, caramel, minimal hops. Lacks complexity, but easily drinkable and tasty. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 17, 2007 Updated: Oct 24, 2007Copper color with good, creamy off-white head / Modest, malt and caramel nose / Medium body with balanced malt and some creamy hops / Flavors of malt, pine, and candied caramel with good finish / A fine, complex lager. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2007 Thanks to hopdog for bringing this back from Wisconsin. Pours a translucent golden amber with a smaller bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, toasted malts, caramel and some fruitiness. Flavor of sweet toasted malts, caramel, very clean mouthfeel, some citrus from the hops. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Feb 9, 2007 Clear copper appearance with a small off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, cookie dough, caramel and ripe fruit. Sweet malts dominate the taste; an earthy edge helps bring out flavors of fall fruits and spices. Smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel with good carbonation leading to a lasting, mildly bitter finish. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 29, 2007 bottle - Pours amber with a one finger head. It smells mildly hoppy along with the expected malts. This tastes well balanced with a nice hoppy bite going well with the caramel malts. This is an enjoyable session brew.
