Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

12 Oz Bottled Feb Wk3. Pour of hazed amber orange, fringes of tawny canteloupe flesh. Oily fringe of white. Rich blow of aroma with freshly grated lemongrass, touches of savory tarragon and a hint of lime-tinged grains. Gentle alcohol glows. On the tongue, a fairly average but quite pleasing soft sweetness from barley esters and lemon water. Fleeting hop dryness. Hints of rusty esters glow in the nose, alcohol detectable. Toasted caramel corners and rising raspberry bubbles. Palate is coaxing, leaving a glistening dab of molasses on the tip of the tongue. Heavily drinkable. Hop balance in plain C is appreciated.

Not Penn Pilsener, but this was a decent Vienna. Very hoppy. Aroma was so so. Mostly caramel. malt. Pour was a standard dark caramel color with a one finger white head. Taste was caramel malt with a suprisingly strong hoppy aftertaste. Borderline APA. As it warms, the hops take center stage and the malt lingers in the back. Good beer.

Pour is a amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma is a pretty decent amount of sweet and toasted malts. Flavor is caramel with a fresh hop backbone. A decent example of the style and a pretty good beer, especially for this brewer.

Clear amber color with a fleeting head. Mild spicy herbal sweet smell. Medium bodied with a frothy mouthfeel. Decent spicy herbal flavor same as the smell. Finishes nicely bitter. A very quaffable lager. 112006

The brewery tour is wonderfull! The brewery bartender told me this is their best seller, and I must believe him. Beautiful to see, smell and drink, and i do whenever I’m in Milwaukee.

Y’know, I kinda like the Vienna style. For example, I thought the Aass Juleol and Smutty Lager were pretty good. Then, this weekend, I pick up a six of this. I had one each night at my Sis’s, thinking ’Holy cow, this is incredible!’ Malting is perfecto here; has more snap than European versions, more crispness, especially when warming. Then, there’s a hop bite not readily apparent in other lagers of any type. Outstanding.

Came to this with high expectation based on the recommendation by a trusted friend. A little disappointed. Poured copper with an off white head. Slightly funky aroma. Some pears, caramel, malty, cookie dough. Medium bodied. The flavor was mildly fruity, malty, some caramel. Just not impressed.

Bottle from Santa. Richly copper colored with a nice off-white head that is moderately lived. Fair lacing. Aroma of earthy hops and some fruity esters. Medium bodied. Bitterness becomes a bit harsh at times, perhaps some husky/tannic notes mixed in. Modest malt background IMO which seems much different than the description given. A fair beer.
