Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

Nothing like the changing of seasons to get me revisit styles I haven’t in a while, well that and access to a hyped beer. This guy is definitely work the effort to find. Attractive (if subdued) malty aroma. Flavor is smooth and wonderful. I wouldn’t classify it as particularly complex, but it is a wonderfully nutty, slightly anisey flavor that is backed by a nice hop kiss. Nice mouthfeel, without being particularly thick in the mouth, which for something short of a bock is definitley an advantage. I wish I had more easy access to this guy, as it would go wonderfully with many a fall evening.

Carmel or I guess "rich amber colored", translucent. Sweet malty flavor, very appropriate for the style. Lightly hopped. If Vienna is your style, I think I got a beer for you. Cheers.

12oz bottle from the mix pack. Pours cloudy amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of malt, bread, spice and lager yeast. Malty aroma with some hop, but an overarching tartness that is ruining what may otherwise be a decent beer. Not seeing that in any other ratings, so maybe I got a bad bottle. Will re-rate if I try again and it is better.

clear amber body, white head. Nice malty aroma, mostly caramel notes some bread notes. Flavor was rich, A smooth caramel base with some bread notes, a subtle hop finish at the end really balaces out the inital sweetness in this beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear filtered copper-amber color. Very malty taste throughout, with a nice subdued hop presence to keep it crisp and refreshing. Fairly low amber malt tastes.

Bottle courtesy of csbosox: Amber body with red highlights, small off-white head that quickly fades to a ring around the outside of the glass. Aroma: slightly acidic caramel and light fruity notes dominate the nose with the barest hint of spice, sweet grains, spicy hops. Medium bodied, soft-medium carbonation, wet. Taste is midly acidic sweet caramel and toffee, malt, fruit, cookie dough, bread, pine. Finishes sweet with the light acidic malt taste balancing things nicely, leading into a mild hop bitterness. A well crafted lager.

On tap at Nakashima’s in Appleton, WI. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head that lingered as a thin cap and left spotty lacing on the way down. The aroma is dominated by light sweet malts and a definite bready character that borders on a slight sourness. Taste follows the aroma with light bready malts and hints of caramel sweetness that, like the aroma, has a slight sourness that lingers in the finish. The mouthfeel is very crisp and clean with no bitterness to speak of and good carbonation. This is a decent beer that I couldn’t quite get a read on with the slight sourness that creeped in.
