Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

12 oz bottle from the brewery (Milwaukee, WI) from my February trip there. Pours a very solid dark amber with decent offwhite head that sticks around, decent haze, touch of lacing. Aromas are a bit of a stinky maltiness, reminiscent of a pilsner, with light bready and biscuity malts. Vague floral hoppiness. Initial is light bodied, sessionable, with carmel and bready malts, a touch of spice for intrigue, and light floral hoppy bitterness. Light, sessionable, but still good flavor. Finishes with a nice malty sweetness and balancing hop and a touch of spice that stays with the palate and aftertaste. I liked this, as simple as it was.

Bottled Aug week 4. Poured amber with a creamy off-white head that settles to a ring. Malty aroma with a hop background. The flavor found caramel and grass hops with just a slight hint of spice. Light body and light bitterness.

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-38026.htm target=blank>buckybeer, thanks Mark!) Nice and malty...Pours burnt orange with about two fingers of biscuit head. Aroma of caramel and pumpkin. Mouthfeel smooth, medium-full, lightly prickly. Flavor is malty caramel and pumpkin with a fair amount of bitterness overlaying. Pretty good.

Brillant beer. I can not decide between this and Great Lakes Elliot Ness as to which is the best Vienna. Luxurious amber color that reminds you of a great whiskey. Full malt/yeast feel that leaves you feeling very satisfied. Goes great with pizza.

Got this one bottled right from the brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Deep reddish-brown pour with a thick, tan head. Excellent sample of the variety. Plenty of complex maltiness balanced with a floral, hoppy character. Orange, Granny-Smith apple, brown sugar and baked bread throughout. Finishes dry and clean. Excellent.

Pours a glimmering Amber body and a mountain of rocky off white head. The aroma is rather malty… heaps of caramel, plums, pears, apple, and then there is the hoppy note of lemon. The flavor evokes strong suggestions of grains, orange zests, and strangely.. nutmeg or something? Begins sweet, buttery, and nutty- cashew like, but finishes with a salty lemon zest bite. Palate is medium.. very drinkable beer… wouldn’t stand out as a first choice beverage but it’s a nice beer for the Spring time.

Poured a clear orangeish amber coloring with a small ring of white foam. Sweet toffee malt aroma, with a tiny amount of nuttiness. Grainy malt sweetness, with a bit of citrus hop bitterness. Balanced and very drinkable. NIce flavors without being over the top.
