Nicely done, but then again nothing special. Yes, a lot of work went into it. But they ended up with a slightly above average beer, Syd (903), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 24, 2004 Bottle pours an attractive deeper amber with an off white head. The aroma is malt and floral hops. The flavor has good fresh bread hints, nice citrus like hops, and sweetness. the palate is where this one scores highly, rich and coordinates well with the flavors. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this one. eboats (895), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2006 Updated: Jan 28, 2008Poured amber with a tan head. Aroma was floral hops and caramel malts. Has a rich "pilsner" aroma. The flavor reminds me of Bob’s 47. Rich soft creamy malts with bread like flavor and some hints of caramel. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Nice malty nose, it is like I stuck my head into a bag of grain. Sweet, but not too sticky. I like it but I find it hard to categorize. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 25, 2007 Bottle. Deep amber color with a frothy off-white head leaving webby lacing. Aroma of toasty cookie/caramel malts, with some floral/honey and even pale fruit notes. Full but not-too-sweet malty flavors-- granola/ toast/caramel balanced by a nice measure of hoppiness (citrus/grass). Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Great little malty lager, balanced all around, and as a bonus I feel like I got a slight bargain with the price. Barrios (861), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a light tan, lacing head with a clear amber body. Smells of caramel and lightly roasted malts. Tastes to me like apricots and caramel. Decent palate. IlanMan (847), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2004 tasted beside a penn oktoberfest and a hacker-pschorr of the same persuasion, this vienna is mostly notable-- not for it's predictably toasty caramel malts-- but for the grapefruit-like bitterness that attends each swallow. it's a classic clear amber, like the back-lit tail feathers of a redtail hawk. the head is present, but it apparently has an architectural preference for 'ranch' as opposed to 'high rise'-- meaning simply that my sample remained kinda low to the surrounding landscape. aroma features a spritz of alcohol amid the pie-crust malts, the slo-poke toffee notes, and that ruby red grapefruit in the enchantingly conspicuous hops. it's a full-flavored vienna, and --given time-- features the usual arc of carbonation from brisk to soft. sweetness to bitterness aspects are in full accord. deservedly renouned.
a taste test among it's style-brethren will likely reveal more of it's singular depth and personality.
