Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

Heavily malted lager - not much flavor upfront - just smoothly sweet, very sweet. There is a slight grapefruit/green apple tart bite at the end which lingers. Nice color with no head retention. Nice bottle art, makes it fun to drink.

So my best friend and I have made a Saturday tradition out of going down to Lakefront Brewery (as it is about a mile from my house), and doing the “Brewery Tour.” For those of you who have taken the tour, you know it consists of buying a LF Brewery Pint glass with 4 chips for free beers in it. Well, my friend Jen and I have never really seen any point in taking the actual tour (we’ll occasionally sneak downstairs to where there second taper is and refill our cups for free), as we end up getting (at least) 5 beers (4 there and one at either Nomad or Walski’s) for $5. What a great city.

(02.18.06) Sampled at FebFest ’06, Libertyville, IL. Clear amber hued ale with small white head. No discernable carbonation. Light sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with moderate malt sweetness and caramel flavor. Finishes with light malt fade. Very malty with barely perceptible hop presence. A good session beer

12 oz single from Archers. Deep orange hazy body. Medium sized frothy beige head. Mild roasty aromas with caramel malt and apples. Sweet malty taste is combined with apples, and slight roasty almost smoked hints. Bread crust too. Good bite in the finish.

Copper color with good, creamy off-white head / Modest, malt and caramel nose / Medium body with balanced malt and some creamy hops / Flavors of malt, pine, and candied caramel with good finish / A fine, complex lager.

Copper pour with a fluffy light-brown head and nice creamy lacing down the pint glass. Caramel and malty aroma. Flavor brings out a few fruity flavors, spice and some vegetable. Lots of toasted malts and the mouthfeel was creamy and pleasant. Finish reveals citrus hops, lingering bisquit/toast and medium bitterness. Certainly good for the style.

clear amber body with a big white head, fresh malt nose, a lot of flavor compared to most in style, caramel, sweet and hoppy, slightly dull nutri-sweet finish, fruity, smooth and delightful

Deep, bright amber. Minimal head. Huge nose of malt, caramel, hops, touch of peat and others. Medium bodied that has a bit of a watery texture, lots of toasty malt flavors, caramel, cascades are there but the malts keep them at bay. I love malt:) A damn fine vienna but I think I like Elliot Ness a bit more. Thank you Psychprof.
