| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Bottle: Nice misty caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose of light sweet caramel and green apple yeasty esters, some decent hoppy notes. The flavor is sweet with a ton of caramel. Almost no roast of hop balance. I don’t know why this is so highly rated. Not that great, I doubt it’s even a lager. Tmoney99 (4800), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Bottle from Cock&Bull. Poured hazy dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good to excellent lacing. Moderate roasted apple bread and cascade hop aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. The beer goes well with spicy food. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2006 Thanks to buckybeer for this one. Hazy deep copper pour with 2-finger creamy khaki head. Aroma of tart fruit, caramel malt, brown sugar, almonds, vinous fruit. Tastes sweet, with a big caramel malt element, plus brown sugar and conciord grapes. Well done! | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 1, 2002 Updated: Mar 3, 2008Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers, apricot). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, slightly metallic. Not a whole lot going on, and rather metallic in the finish, but ok. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 10, 2001 As near to perfection as a lager can be. Great color, wonderful hop/malt balance, a nice caramel sweetness and some earth-tones, totally smooth and easy finish. 12/10 rerating (bottled). Can’t believe I don’t have to change a single number, but there it is. Would just mention the powerful malt presence all the way through; palate gives you just enough hops to keep it from being too syrupy-sweet-smooth. Wonderful, though I personally would put the Klisch Pilsener at the top of the brewer’s heap. bhensonb (4387), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Mild caramel aroma. Amber color. White head. Near medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is a balance of caramel and resiny hop. A rather hoppy Vienna. The finish is reasonably dry, with a decent amount of bitter. Lager or ale? Hard to tell. If you know, send me a message! Or should I trust the label? A damn decent lager. If AB adopted this recipe, profits would go down, but America would rule. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 18, 2005 Pours with barely a trace of a head. A very dark amber color that was as expected. Nice malty aroma of tobacco and some toffee. The taste is a toasted bread with some hints of pear at the edges of my tongue. Plenty of bite from the carbonation and an ashen finish. Thanks Frank.
